Rjha designed and consulted on our loft extension in North London. Their advice was excellent - suggesting we went for a large impact space rather than cutting it up into smaller rooms. He also suggested the use of oak on the exterior which would turn silvery with age, plus a louvre design to give privacy for the floor to ceiling windows in our en suite.
When it was completed our house acquired a significant WOW factor as well as a master bedroom with a lovely Juliet balcony. Ray was thoughtful, responded to questions promptly and we couldn’t have been happier with the design and our eventual final room. Highly recommend.

We were planning the renovation and conversion of a two-storey Victorian stable building attached to our property and had engaged another architect. The difficulty of bringing light into the north-facing building while retaining the sense of the original layout within a challenging budget resulted in us obtaining planning permission to demolish the stable and replace it with a new extension.

While seeking quotes for the demolition and build, we were introduced to Ray Holden who, with his flair for innovative design could immediately see the potential for conversion and urged us to retain the fabric of the original building. He produced some initial sketches, one of which struck a chord with us and through a number of rapid iterations, we quickly arrived at a design that ticked all our boxes.

Planning permission was quickly sought and granted, a set of drawings produced for tender, an acceptable build quote obtained and the build phase started. During the detailed design process, Ray suggested an innovative design concept for the central staircase and helped locate a supplier who could build it – the result is a stunning centrepiece that provides a focal point for the entire building.

Ray and his team were amazing to work with. They were flexible, accessible and supportive which, combined with Ray’s design concept, produced a stunning home with a wow factor that impresses all who visit.

Our overall experience of using RJHA has been extremely positive and we would unreservedly recommend them as architects. Thank you Ray.
