Myself and partner have lived in Histon for well over twenty years since buying our property, and have certainly had our share of dodgy traders. Fortunately however, the internet has since come on a pace, and more reliable trader reviews are easier to find nowadays.

Our old fence had suffered in recent high winds, with two broken 4x4 posts and others to follow. So, when looking to invest in a strong new fence and gate, with permanent concrete posts and gravel boards, and strong high-quality panels, all to run the considerable length from back to front of property, we were particularly 'picky' in our selection of trader.

From the many glowing reviews however, it didn't take long to settle on just one that clearly stood out... SJ Gill Fencing Ltd.

Understanding that some traders request an up-front deposit to cover their time and considerable cost of ordered materials, I offered - but they wouldn't take a penny until the job was completed, so good signs right from the outset.

To cut a long story short, their attention to detail, pride and quality of workmanship throughout, great communications and updates, the friendliness and consideration of both proprietors and seasoned workmen, expert bespoke customisations when having to work around troublesome buried pipes and drain, delivery to commitment - regardless of terrible wet weather, clear-up and tidiness, and an extremely competitive quote into the bargain, leaves us nothing less than impressed, utterly delighted with the results, and gratified with our choice of trader.

Such great service is harder to come by in these challenging times, so if you're going to invest considerable finances in fencing that will both look fabulous and withstand the rigors of time and increasingly-windy British climate, you HAVE to get it right.

I used S.J. Gill Fencing to fit a new gate with combination lock, as well as fixing an older gate. Steve was on time to the initial quotation and subsequently managed to fit the work in quickly. They gave me a few options so that I could pick the right gate for my budget. The quality of the work was very good, and I'd happily use them again for anything fencing related.
