First contacted Coombs & Ashdown in November 2023 to provide a survey valuation to enable us to staircase our shared ownership property. 8 months later and we still hadn’t completed due to some poor communication on the legal side of things. I was then asked at the 11th hour to gain a letter that stated that the original valuation was still valid as it had been 8 months since the survey. I contacted Coombs & Ashdown to see if this was possible with such short notice (needed the same day to complete) and within 30 minutes of asking for the letter, David had provided the letter which has enabled us to complete.

Will 100% use this company again when we start our next moving journey.

Mr Coombs carried out a RICS Level 2 Homebuyer survey in September 2020, and failed to notice an obvious visible fault with a retaining wall around a raised flowerbed which had not been properly built and was already failing. This is evident from the estate agent's photos taken at the time. Despite that, Mr Coombs has come up with a variety of excuses, including that some imaginary vegetation must have been trailing over the wall hiding the fault visible in photos taken just weeks before, and that the previous owner must have dug up that imaginary trailing plant and taken it with him (but left all the others in the front and back garden). Firms/professionals are only ever as good as the way they deal with issues raised by customers, and Mr Coombs has acted with absolutely no integrity in this respect. His mistake has cost me £3,000. Avoid using.

Excellent service and highly recommended. We used Mathew Coombs to conduct a valuation survey on our own property combined with a Home Buyers survey for the property we are looking to purchase. Both reports were very detailed, reasonably priced and couldn't fault the service in general. Comes highly recommended.

A promising start but totally let down. Invoice was sent which was incorrect and had to be amended. Mr Coombes offered to revisit the property to sign off work he had recommended was carried out in his survey prior to exchange. Despite numerous requests spanning many weeks he chose to ignore us and has never had the courtesy to contact us to offer any explanation. Would certainly not recommend. The survey he prepared for us is totally inaccurate e.g. the boiler is stated as being in the kitchen. It is not it is in an understairs cupboard located in the dining room. Currently seeking legal advice re a major problem with the roof which he has not identified in the survey.
