I appointed Rixon Architecture to facilitate and advise on design ,structure and rebuilding of my houseboat project at South beach Heacham. James was great to work with and quickly understood the complications a subtleties of our unique project. James was able to take on board my ideas for the project and produce the design and CAD drawings needed for planning permission and construction. The remit involved integrating 3D scanned images of the boat hull into the CAD package to allow for detailed design of the boat interior. He successfully obtained the planning permission working closely with the local planners and at all times kept me well informed and up to date with the progress.

Following a successful Planning Inspectorate appeal, I approached James about our Reserved Matters application.

The local authority never really wanted a building in the site and made the process very difficult.

James was able to deliver a contemporary design for us as the client as well as meet the restrictive demands of a planning department intent on retaining the ‘Fenland Market Town’ architectural integrity.

This was achieved by ensuring the external street facing elevations retained the local vernacular, whilst the rear elevation and internal layout delivered the modern look and detail we wanted. In addition, to meet the required low ridge height, James sank the whole design so that it introduces interesting internal levels.

I found James responsive, resilient and professional.
