We booked a free consultation with a Laura which then led to her designing our extension over our garage. Laura was able to come up with a few options for us to choose from and helped us consider design ideas we hadn’t considered. She took us through the planning process and handed over to builders at an appropriate time.

Having spent endless hours debating what we should or shouldn’t/could or couldn’t do to make our house work better for us and getting nowhere we decided to engage Laura. This proved to be extremely useful and delivered just as we hoped it would. After an initial hour’s online consultation Laura then visited us and having taken all the measurements and necessary information she required we sat down with her to discuss potential options. This was so useful we were able to voice individually what we wanted to achieve and what we liked and disliked and she was able to tell us what was possible and make very useful suggestions. She then provided us with various options which made us focus on the cost/benefit of each of the possibilities. Most importantly we were quickly able to discount some then leaving us just a few to consider. Laura’s advice and knowledge gave us the ability to really think about how we would use spaces and what we would gain from the various options she came up with. Left with her initial designs we talked through the options and spoke to a builder. We had a final online session in which we explained to Laura we wanted to take some features from a few different designs and she then drew this up and sent it over to us. This for us was such a positive and useful experience, having spent years debating and not making any decisions our experience with Laura gave us the confidence to make the changes.

Laura and her team at Pride Road have given us such a great service in extending and improving the downstairs of our tired home.

At the workshop stage she took us through the range of options available to us, sometimes challenging our bland preconceptions and proposing options that we wouldn't have come up with ourselves. In the end we had 3 strong concepts to select from. The one we opted for involved a modest rear extension and clever internal re-modelling of the internal spaces.

In the following phases Laura's team developed the preferred concept into a Permitted Development design and then Detailed Design drawings, seamlessly employing other professionals such as the Structural Engineer when needed.

Going into the construction phase we found that quotes back from builders were relatively consistent with the budget that we advised Laura of at the outset of the project. The pre-start meeting with our builder was useful, and during the build phase no particular issues arose that hadn't been previously considered in the design phases.

Overall, with Laura and her team's help, our home has been totally transformed and the potentially stressful project was delivered as relatively smoothly as we could have wished for.

In my opinion the strong points of Laura's service is her creativity and ability to challenge assumptions in the early concept stages of the project, followed by sound advice, competence and pragmatism in the realization phases.

We started the process right in the middle of covid, but Laura made the process really easy with regular video calls where we collaborated brilliantly on the project. Our home, which was in need of some modernisation, borders the New Forest. We decided we wanted to maximise the lovely views we have, which meant remodelling most of the house. Laura created an amazing design incorporating ideas we could never have imagined, which completely transformed our ‘tired’ house to benefit from the superb views. We now have the house of our dreams with a much more practical and pleasant design and outlook.
The entire process went very well, and it was a pleasure working with Laura who dealt with all the intricacies of the planning process, and nothing was too much trouble for Laura, who was helpful and supportive in so many ways. We’re not planning to move anywhere, but if we did, we would definitely use Laura again!

So obviously we had a chat with Laura and booked din a workshop with her to look at our options.
