Woke up with no electricity. Main breaker kept switching off. Called Smart Electrical, Alex arrived within 35 minutes, 5 minutes of fault finding and the issue was resolved.

I had the pleasure of having Alex from Smart Electrical come out to fix an issue with my shower. From the moment I called, Alex was friendly and professional, quickly scheduling an appointment that worked for me.

He arrived promptly and got straight to work, quickly diagnosing the problem as a faulty breaker. He clearly explained the issue and the steps he would take to fix it, putting my mind at ease. Within a day, he had sourced the necessary part and had my shower back up and running.

I was incredibly impressed with Alex's efficiency and knowledge. He was thorough in his work, ensuring everything was working perfectly before he left. His friendly demeanour and professional approach made the whole experience stress-free.

I would not hesitate to recommend Alex and Smart Electrical to anyone in need of electrical work. He is reliable, trustworthy, and delivers excellent service. I will definitely be calling them again for any future electrical needs.

Very poor service
Alex came to see what work I needed doing and confirmed he was happy and able to do the job. He stressed that he was a professional. I explained that I am aware I need to upgrade to a new consumer unit but am not ready for that at this stage. All I needed for now was floodlights(with preinstalled cameras) installed in the corner of the property for the back garden and another one for the front garden plus a video ring doorbell. After what felt like persuasion to do the consumer unit now, I agreed for him to do the consumer unit as well. However, after he left I thought about this consumer unit and decided that I should not be doing it out of feeling pressured to do it. I texted him to say I don t feel ready to do the consumer yet -I explained I will do this next year. He said that should be fine

When he came to do the work - he said he does not know how he will do the ring doorbell yet. Which took me by suprise because he had told me he can do the job. He then said he will start with the floodlights. He spent the day installing the back flood light. He then told me that he was unable to install this back floodlight in the corner for the back garden so he installed it on the side of the property. In the process he broke a piece of cladding on the wall and told me all the cladding around the house needs redoing. This was obviusly rubbish because in August this year I had new fascia, soffits and guttering installed and the company that did the work had scaffolding around the whole house and did a lot of drilling onto the cladding without breaking a single piece of cladding. They worked around the cladding and drilled into it for 3 to 4 days without problems.
So now I have a broken piece of cladding- no apology from him for breaking my cladding other than implying its the faut of the cladding.
I have lighting with a camera on the side of the property instead of the back of the property.
When I asked about corner fittings for these lights to make sure they are installed where I need them to be, he said corner fittings for lights don't exist. However when I did a search online I found them. He then said go ahead and purchase the corner fittings , he would fit them at a later date. Once I bought the fittings, he said he can't fit them because he did not feel safe drilling them into the wall. So I was left with 2 unused corner fittings and 2 lights with cameras that he had placed in the wrong positions.
These corner fitting have very good reviews online from lay people who installed them for similar lights to mine. The fittings have 5 star reviews online from people who bought and installed them saying they were very easy to install. Yet Alex - the electrician- says he cant install them.
At this point I felt like I was dealing with a cowboy electrician so I asked him to cancel the video doorbell and just finish what he had started which was the 2 floodlights. My neighbour was shocked when they saw what he did to my cladding.

There's more things I was not happy with, but the worst of them all was his persuasive argument for him to install the consumer unit now because he says 'Its a good investment'. I did nt realise that electricians can give advice about what constitutes a good investment. Even Vanguard cant give investment advice and yet here is Alex telling me that giving him more of my money to do work in my home is a good investment. I dont think he would get away with this if he was regulated because it comes accross as coercive misselling especially because I felt pressured to purchase and pay for something I was not yet ready for at the time.

At the end of the day, I found his service very poor, incompetent, very stressful and unprofessional. I would not recommend him at all.

Alex was very prompt in replying to my messages. Before he came out he discussed different options with me for the work that needed to be carried out giving me approx costs. He was able to come out to me within a couple of days and was polite and friendly. He explained everything he was doing and ensured I was happy with everything before he left. He provided an efficient service at a very cheap price. I would highly recommend him and would be very happy to use him again.

Absolutely fantastic electrician who I have already recommended to many others. He re-wired our whole house, and is without doubt the most polite, reliable and hard-working tradesman I've had the pleasure of dealing with during a complete property renovation. Alex always shows up when he says he will, his prices are very fair and he is tidy and friendly. The work was completed to a high standard and I am really happy with it. I found Smart Electrical via a recommendation from someone who said he was the nicest tradesperson they'd ever dealt with, and can completely see why! It's fantastic having peace of mind now knowing the electrics are safe, and we'll be welcoming Alex back to do more work for us in the near future without hesitation. 100% recommend. Cheers Alex!
