I wanted a building inspection following a survey on a house and a lack of information from the sellers. I initially tried another company who were slow to respond which caused delays in getting a suitable appointment. I needed a structural engineer following a home survey report on a house we are intending to purchase. Hoping not to prolong our chain too much I came across Barratt Associates whom I contacted for a quote. They were very professional and prompt in doing this which gave me the confidence to go with them. From the outset our Structural Engineer James was on the ball and was out to assess the property within days. James addressed all my concerns straight away over the phone followed up by a comprehensive report.

We were desperate for a structural engineers report for our property after Nationwide refused to mortgage the property without it. We are based in Bristol and local structural engineers had wait lists of over 8 weeks so after seeing so many great reviews of Barratt Associates we sent a messaging hoping they would consider coming to Bristol to carry out the report and luckily they covered the area. James who completed our survey was really friendly, insightful and was able to fit us in less than a week from when we called. I could not recommend him more highly.

We also had some administrative issues on the report that Nationwide would not accept and Bill and James got back to us straight away with all requests and amended the report in minutes each time to help us get our mortgage.

My Mum used this company to calculate for a beam to put the top stage of the double extension up. Chris and his engineer Ian were absolutely brilliant - Mum's words. This company was organised through the building contractors that we used.

Representative turned up several hours late. Dismissive demeanour using acronyms and terms that layman would not know. Site measurements were taken.

The structural report was sent, within the same email was an instruction to their personnel to invoice.

After personally ordering the steel, that was referenced in their calculations, it was found that the steel was too short, as the total length actually required was not included in their calculations.

Raised the issue with the company and was simply referred to the small notes within the 10 page calculations.

We had to reorder a second batch of steelwork, and lost a week of construction, costing an extra £3k.

We raised the issue again and had no response.

We then awaited communication back from the company, but none was received. We contacted their main phone number several times.

The company then without warning or any direct communication sent our details to a debt collection agency.

We tried for four days to contact them through their main phone number. This whole process caused immeasurable stress and anxiety to ourselves, with a young family going through an extension.

The company demonstrated no communication, understanding of our issues and only appeared to be interested in ensuring they had invoiced.

I would recommend you avoid using this company.
