We have used Butterworth Cox for the last 15 years whenever we have needed any building work carried out, and have always been extremely satisfied with the results.
The work is always carried out in a timely manner to an extremely high standard and to budget. David Cox is a perfectionist and treats every piece of work as if he were doing it for himself.
Our most recent project was to double the size of our sitting room without it looking like an extension from the inside. This including putting a chimney breast and fireplace where the services came down from the en-suite directly above, and blending in the new wooden floor with the existing boards.
After it was finished, the flue put in by a well-known stove installation company by was totally ineffective, so David constructed a chimney which draws like a blast furnace and from the outside, looks as if it has ‘always been there’.
Finally, as a finishing touch, he built a garden wall with a with a perfect little green door in it.

This was our first large building project. We had trepidations about the process which meant we were determined to use a builder we could trust. And that's why Butterworth Cox was our first and only real consideration. We had first hand knowledge of their work and of them as people.

From day one to completion of the original conversion project (we added a lot of additional ground works once we knew what was possible) we were in very capable hands. The project was on time, to budget (other than for dealing with an unexpected historical discovery below ground level) and flowed smoothly along.

All the people who worked on the building were lovely to have around. Skilled, polite and fun. There was never any animosity or strife. I enjoyed the whole process and would do it again tomorrow. Although I would love to never have to choose another porcelain tile again!

David Cox is very organised. Everything was where it was needed on the day it was needed. The only delay we experienced was the production of a lightweight supporting lintel, but it didn't delay the project over all. 

David explains what's happening, and when it's going to happen, all the time so there are no surprises. He is full of good ideas for nice touches. He gave us an invaluable "attic" space we never thought possible. A delightful log store and shed and a beautiful garden wall and landscaping. He listened to our requirement for steps to be shallow and suitable for my elderly mother to manage with her wheelie walker or walking stick.

We highly recommend this building contractor for quality workmanship, good company and smooth sailing. Everyone who has been to see the finished home has had nothing but nice things to say about it.
