Mike Whitakers were recommended to us by our architect, and we couldn’t be happier with the work completed. We met with James, Luke and Mike back in April 2024 and they provided us with a quotation for a single storey extension, kitchen renovation and garage conversion. It was clear right from the start that they knew their stuff, although I was apprehensive having building work completed with a toddler at home. I needn’t have worried because they were so respectful of our home and turned up every day with a smile; it was a pleasure working with them for the best part of 3 months.
I’ve never known a more professional contractor, everything was organised with military precision and they stuck to the timescale agreed at the start. They were mindful to minimise disruption and mess, which was very important to us with a young child running around.
We are so happy to enjoy our beautiful new kitchen and extension.

From the first meeting with James and Luke, the quotation, the start date and finally to the handover we felt so comfortable in their company. They listened to our project plans, they offered advice and guidance which was much appreciated. I used Mike Whittaker and his teams for 2 big jobs, a single storey extension and then following that stripping out of a very tiny old kitchen and knocking through to make a large modern beautiful kitchen.
Starting with the extension, first of all the ideas from the team to have a vaulted ceiling with velum type windows was something I hadn’t thought of and turned out to be an amazing room. The team managed by Luke and James did an awesome job, we’re extremely respectful of my property and also very responsive to any last minute changes or additions to the original plan. They were super fast but also very thorough in their work and I was very impressed with their work and professionalism. They also took it upon themselves to repair my broken guttering and my back door whilst they were there.
Once this was completed Mike Whittaker and his son took over in the new kitchen area. They had a time plan and stuck to it. Their quality of work is outstanding and together with their sense of humour (Mr T!) it was a pleasure to have them in the house. Even my dog fell in love with them. Every day they made sure they cleaned up after themselves and ensured I had access to water / washing machine etc whilst the work was being carried out. The quality of the finished kitchen is amazing and all other work (such as electrician) was arranged through them so I did not have to do any of the project managing.
One thing is certain and that if I ever need any more carpentry or building work done I will b contacting them and would not use anyone else.

We started our project (single story extension and garage conversion) not knowing any builders in the area. This company came with unanimous good reviews from many people. We were not disappointed.

Having never undergone building work before ,and with a young family, we were naturally anxious about what to expect. Within a few days we felt at ease with the project. Luke, James and Raf were highly skilled, professional, clean and precise with their work. They were prompt and quick workers and communicated every stage well to us. They worked around busy family life and ensured areas were safe for children.
Every tradesperson that we required also had the same amount of professionalism and competence.

The service and build we got from Mike was nothing other than outstanding. The project was on budget and finished well before the deadline. The project timing went like clockwork and this was all down to Mike's fastidious organisational skills. All trades were onsite exactly to the day/hour that Mike had arranged. I knew Mike was a trustworthy, highly respected builder and we were willing to wait the time period to get Mike for our extension rather than using another builder. Would definitely recommend and will be definitely using again.

We first contacted Mike Whittaker Builders to ask for a quote to replace our falling down conservatory, we only got the one quote as we were going by reputation and asking other customers for their feedback. We made the right choice, right from the go, James and Luke were amazing, the work was well planned and organised throughout. The work was carried out to a very high standard, they kept us fully up to date at all times. All of the team were very considerate with us living in the house at the time of the build. They were trust worthy and reliable. While on site i asked whether they could build in a bespoke shed at the side of the house, wow! what a fantastic job they did. Upon completion of the work, they removed every tiny piece of rubbish and pressure washed all areas. I will definitely be using them again and would recommend to anyone looking to carry out any building work. I would like to say a big thank you to the team.
