We've been battling for a few years with damp issues in a bedroom after substantial storms and driving rain. After some research, I felt the problem was with our old chimney stack which didn't have lead trays and reached out to James. We discussed the issues and solutions which included a chimney rebuild with lime mortar, 2 lead trays and air bricks. James and his team were outstanding, carefully removing the bricks by hand as the property is thatched, i.e. no angle grinder putting out sparks. As a result nearly all of the bricks were reusable thereby keeping the character of the chimney stack intact. The finished result is amazing. James and his team are very polite and take immense pride in their work, I would highly recommend them.

James and his team took down our old and not very beautiful chimney in order to rebuild so that it was 1.8m above the thatch. The bricks he chose and the mortar used were entirely appropriate and a number of our neighbours have commented on how good it looks. All the works were well organised and the site was left tidy. We had an extension executed by James and his team, putting a new room over our garage. It went extremely well, and we are delighted with the outcome.

James' quote was in detail, he visited the site and sent his team round (plumber, electrician etc), so we had confidence he understood the scope. This was far better than other people we approached.

In the run-up to the work we maintained good communications. The materials were ordered promptly, which avoided some of the price rises. The job started on time and was staffed throughout. He kept us well-informed of progress and the next stages.

The sub-trades all respected James and verified that he was an excellent person to work for, who planned their work and things would be ready on time for them.

During the build, James and his team were great to work with, and accommodated our minor changes plus discovery work easily. For example, they identified some rotten woodwork in the existing roof and were able to rectify it, which saved a really serious problem later.

The quality of the work was excellent, and there have been no items requiring rework or attention.

I would thoroughly recommend James and his team. We are planning to do a second piece of work and he will be our builder; repeat business which we know will again be done in exactly the fashion the job should be.

From the outset, James was pleasant and professional. He and his team evidently took a pride in their work and were prepared 'to go the extra mile' to create a garden wall which fits in with our 200 year old cottage. At every stage he kept us fully informed and, despite horrendous weather and restricted access presenting considerable challenges, through creative problem-solving and re-cycling, he actually saved us money: his final bill was a very pleasant surprise, with a significant saving on his original quote!
