AVOID!

We needed some work doing to our decking due to some water leakages to the downstairs flat. We were recommended to use the Gaughan group by an estate agent who we later realised was paid for the introduction. A hefty 10% agreement fee I might add.

We have been left deeply unhappy with the quality of work that has been carried out on the roof, the chimney breast and the state of the decking. Going by some of the other reviews by this company, I’m not surprised!

The main issue is to do with the quality of the decking which keeps getting disjointed only a few months after they were fitted. The panelling constantly needs new screws placed in, and the paint is already starting to fade away.

There was then a black plastic bin bag left around the outer edge of a new chimney which needed fitting. We have since has a specialist come to inspect the work, who said he'd never in his career seen this, which explains just how bad this work has been. Not just this but pieces of concrete keep falling from the chimney onto my balcony and could quite easily hit someone - very unsafe.

I am quite frankly amazed at how bad this workmanship has been, alongside multiple no shows when the work started, and the poor levels of customer service that I received throughout the whole process.

What makes all this worse is the price we paid to have this work done. £3,365 to get shoddy decking installed.

Daylight robbery – if you’re reading this, DO NOT USE.

They were contracted by foxtons for a property that my family member is letting that has been covered in mould for a year (Foxton's fault). The keys to the property was given to Gaughan on 28/11/22 and returned to us yesterday 22/12/22 in a completely uninhabitable condition. Please see the pictures attached of before and after. It took them 4 weeks to just paint the place? Completely unacceptable and disgusting service received. I will raise an official complaint with ealing council and the ombudsman.

As a subcontractor working with Gaughan Group for more than two years, I’m confident that things could be better but there’s no such thing as perfection and I am honestly grateful to the team and Aaron in particular, for trying their best to meet all of our customers needs while keeping a professional approach.
I’ve seen many negative reviews in here, mostly from tenants who think they own the engineer that attend the property they rent in order to do something which they will benefit from.
I’ve had a few issues with tenants myself, but I didn’t escalate because I respect myself enough not to give them the attention they seek.
When we are sent to any property, we are given specific tasks, anything that goes extra it’s often overlooked and if an engineer decides do do it free of charge for the benefit of the tenant, it’s because the engineer wants them to live comfortably and this creates a good image of a reputable company.
Bare in mind that any extra work pointed out by tenants or observed by the engineers needs to be quoted for and approved by the estate agents and/or the landlord, which in most cases might take ages (again, nothing to do with Gaughan Group, we are happy to take any work as long as it is quoted and paid for), because there might be situations where an engineer is asked to do something extra(to change a tap, for example) by the tenant, the engineer agrees out of courtesy and does not mark the respective job as extra work(therefore, it will be free of charge), but that tap might be defective after some time and when the estate agents trace back who’s done the work, turns out it was us and we will have to attend to do the work free of charge(again) which can be bad for any business.
In the end, keep in mind that we will happily do any work as I already mentioned, but we can’t just go to do every job free of charge and if you are waiting for a reply form us regarding quoted works, it’s because we have to get the approval from the estate agents, which themselves have to be approved by the landlord in order to proceed with the works.
Most case scenarios end in landlords wanting the cheapest possible price for the works or to do a bare minimum of works.
As for our former colleagues or engineers that might have done shoddy works, we are happy to say that they no longer work with us, as we are constantly reviewing the amount of time taken to do the works/the quality of the works and any complaints supported by evidence from the persons benefiting the works done by our team.

I recently had two small issues in my flat, one electrical and one plumbing related and Alex Leslie from Gaughan Services was quite simply the most efficient, professional and friendly engineer I have had in the entire time I have lived in Kensington. I would not only recommend him again, I will absolutely request him and would go so far as to say that were I in this contracting business, I would hire him.

You've got a great one there in Alex. Many thanks for the professionalism and great work.

Looks like this company is bad at construction based on the reviews, I can also confirm their van drivers are **** and dangerously overtake cyclists as well. Can they do anything right? I will be submitting the cam video to police.

Very pleased with the service from 'Joe' at Gaughan Services. I had a horrific flood in my apartment - during this lockdown it's not ideal. Joe arrived, tackled the problem and just got the job done. I'm very pleased with the service from Joe and would recommend him to others. Very professional and knows his stuff. Thanks again!!
