Design-A-Loft recently completed a first floor extension and loft conversion for us. This involves a complete rebuild from scratch of our old roof as it did not have sufficient pitch height.

I would (and have been already) recommend Design-A-Loft to anyone looking to do a loft conversion. From first visit through to completion they have been absolutely fantastic.

Ben’s communication and organisation throughout the project was incredible. Having done other building projects, this felt relatively stress free in comparison and it always felt like we had plenty of time to make decisions. He was also completely transparent about the pricing throughout and everything was clearly broken down.

We had a bit of a nightmare with council planning and Ben was extremely patient throughout the process during which there were considerable delays and the project spec changing several times.

Our onsite team, led by Chris, were also brilliant. Really top quality at what they do with a strong attention to detail You always worry about having people in your house but the whole team were so polite and considerate throughout. Once again we can only compare against previous builders we have used but they are also the tidiest builders I have ever known. Chris and team always took time at the end of every day to make sure the place was left in great shape for us. I really can’t emphasise this enough and it made such a difference.

All in all they are well worthy of a 6 (out of 5) star rating, we have nothing but good things to say about them and would highly recommend them to anyone.

We have had such a great experience with Design-A-Loft. Ben Ames has been fantastic from start to finish and we certainly received a very professional service.

Our extension involved a double storey side and part rear extension and garage conversion. The ground floor was constructed in brick and block, whilst the first floor was constructed in timber frame. This, together with roof works, electrical works, plumbing, kitchen and bathroom installation as will as Building Control meant there were numerous and conflicting moving parts. Ben managed this seamlessly and professionally, whilst keeping us fully informed every step of the way.

Ben was very quick to respond to all our queries and we often received a reply within 5 to 10 minutes. This was always so helpful.

Every contractor working for Design-A-Loft on this project were equally professional, very experienced and beyond helpful. We were happy with everyone who was brought to site.

We have used Ben and his team for our loft conversion and got his excellent team back for our rear extension and kitchen build. I first started speaking to Ben before we even bought the house and he was always incredibly helpful with advice so we could understand what to expect if we went ahead with the purchase. When we came to do the loft work Ben and his team were punctual, extremely hard working, polite and tidy. The build went really fast and without a hitch. They all worked incredibly hard to minimise the disruption and make it stress free. Ben made sure I had a very clear schedule well in advance for anything I needed to source and always responded immediately to any questions. He kept me informed throughout on what was happening and what to expect. The work was done to a very high quality. Following this great experience we engaged Design-a-Loft on our Rear extension and kitchen remodelling. This was a more complex project as our house threw us a few unexpected surprises. Ben and all the great team solved every problem with creativity, calm and patience. Everyone from builders to electricians, plumbers to carpenters, kitchen fitters and more were a joy to have around and worked in harmony with each other and with us. The whole project was done to an exceptionally high standard, was as stress free as work of this kind can be and we're delighted with the result. I cannot recommend Design-a-Loft enough. They are a very safe pair of hands and quite frankly I wouldn't want to work with anyone else.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing an incredible loft conversion, and I can't express enough how thrilled I am with the results! From start to finish, the entire experience was nothing short of exceptional.

The professionalism of the team was truly impressive. They arrived on time every day, communicated clearly, and kept us informed throughout the process. It was evident that they took great pride in their work, and it showed in every detail of the conversion.

It's almost been a year now since our loft was converted by Ben and his team and the whole family literally loves going up into the new space they've given us, we just love it. I've always thought i need to do this for Ben as it's important, just time gets away and even after a year, where it's easy to say to yourself oh it doesn't matter and forget it, actually Ben did such a great job it's the least I can do.

Throughout the whole process Ben was just absolutely brilliant, communicating relentlessly whilst him and his team did an awesome job. When u get building work done, with the cost of it, you worry are u going to end up in a mess as there's so many horror stories out there, however Ben is just a truly professional builder and a real gent too. He's such an honest hard working guy and that's reflected in his team that he has working for him.

When we were starting the process it's hard to know who to choose but we are so glad we went with Ben as he controls everything, where as others it's just all contracted out to others, which u might not realise till it's too late. With Ben totally owning it all and putting his name to it, the quality of the work is just superb, but also whilst it's happening, he cared for our home like his own to ensure we were looked after and there was minimal disruption. Literally he beat our expectations with this by an absolute mile.

Finally, the value for money we've got from Ben has been absolutely outstanding, the quality of work, the way he's looked after us and the space he's left us with is just brilliant. If you're looking to have work done, get Ben involved as you really won't regret it. He even made suggestions to improve the plans and things we hadn't thought of, sharing his expertise. Therefore you'd be crazy to not use him!! Money incredibly well spent

Couldn't have asked for a better team to build our loft extension. Absolutely great team, excellent work, great communication. Would definitely recommend.

Ben's team were amazing all the way through the process, from designing the loft and helping us get through planning permission (because of the lack of permitted development on our estate), all the way through the build and great customer service on the tiny snags now that it's all done.

The build team are incredible. They work so hard and are always polite, kind, considerate, punctual and tidy. The communication and planning is always excellent so you always know what is happening and when. The whole build goes so fast!

I was expecting the whole process to be extremely stressful and it wasn't at all! Ben and his team are incredibly easy to talk to, and willing to answer any questions and concerns with no judgement. They honestly care about doing a great job for people and it shows.

The new loft bedroom and en suite bathroom is an absolute haven of a space. I honestly couldn't ask for anything more.

From the moment Ben left after our initial
Visit I had a good feeling about Design-a-loft.
Ben filled me with confidence that his team could build what we were looking to achieve and promised a quote back the same day. Within a few hours I had a comprehensive quote in writing and happily booked his next available slot.
Our estimated build time was 12 weeks and this was on time allowing for the Christmas break. The trades turned up every day, with hardly any days with nothing happening. The build progressed really quickly and we were kept fully informed along the way of issues that naturally arise when converting a 60’s bungalow. Nothing was ever to much trouble for Ben and his team. We built through 3 storms over December/January and Ben checked in every weekend with us to ensure the scaffolding was holding up. A really nice touch to show he cared as much about his build as he did our property.

We now have our home back with a wonderful new upstairs to look forward to moving into. I wouldn’t hesitate to use these guys again, an excellent experience from start to finish. On a final note it was really good to see several enthusiastic young apprentices being given a chance. Always a good thing to see the next generation being given an opportunity, they were a credit and great representation of Design-a-build.

So happy with the work Ben and his team have done. We had our garage converted into a living space. So glad we chose Design-A-Loft to carry out the work as the end result is just great. In particular the new brickwork - it blends perfectly with the existing. All the guys are polite and professional. Will use them again for further work for sure. Definitely recommended! You won’t be disappointed.
