Great people and a fantastic product!

As part of our kitchen renovation we were creating a *big* island - just over 3 metres long and 1.2 metres wide. Our biggest problem was the worktop - we wanted it to be a single piece, initially thinking quartz or granite. But the size had every supplier worried - even those that could make it weren't sure they could deliver it safely, as it would weigh over 200kg and we live in a 2nd floor flat.

Then we found Stonemade online, and an email exchange confirmed they could cast a concrete worktop on-site, which removed the problem of getting the complete piece upstairs (and the danger of breaking the worktop, the stairs, or the people in the process!).

The guys were incredibly flexible to fit themselves around our kitchen install, as the cabinets had to be in place before they started. Their team drove overnight for 6 hours (we're in Glasgow) to be at our place for 9am on the Saturday morning. Adam and Kacper were a pleasure to work with - they created a mold on the Saturday morning, with openings for our sink and hob, and poured the concrete in the afternoon.

They were back on the Sunday at lunchtime to fit the finished worktop. We enlisted some friends (6 of us in total) to help lift the worktop into place (it weighs about 180kg). Then the guys spent hours meticulously sealing and polishing it, before leaving on the Sunday evening - they didn't get back home till midnight!

The result is amazing. A beautiful, bespoke, single slab of concrete, designed to match our layout and coloured as we asked to contrast with our units. All done in 48 hours - and the guys kept the room tidy and cleaned up after themselves as well - we couldn't be happier.

Communication was a little hit and miss to begin with but once the team arrived to template our job which was a worktop with hob cut-out and large island with sink cut out and built in drainer, we could not have been more impressed. The team worked to a such a high standard and had such a great attitude, very respectful of our property and worked to mm precision. We work around the Trades and this bunch had higher standards and a better work ethic than 99% of traders that we've come across before. In addition the worktops are stunning, fit like a glove and came in at almost half the price that on-site concrete casting did.

We ordered a kitchen worktop through Stonemade for our house in Newcastle. They were reasonably priced and were quick to respond to our request. They provided samples so we could easily choose our worktop color. We also had to delay our installation and they were very accommodating with this. Would recommend.

The templating and installation happened quickly and everything went smoothly. The finished worktops look really fantastic.
