After a 2 year design project, and over £40k in sunk costs, PiP designed a house for us that was over double our discussed budget (over £5500 per sqm.) without warning us once that this was likely the case. During the cost reduction exercise, after agreeing to every possible compromise, they were unable to bring the cost below £3500 per sqm. At the end of exercise they were unable to explain why the project was still so expensive, or suggest ways to bring the costs down further.

A final word of warning if you decide to employ PiP Architects, be careful during the design phase. They would often offer us only one design option and were not interested in collaborating to find alternatives if we didn't like their first suggestion.

We engaged PiP architects to build a unique one-off house on a very tight site in Cambridge. Their interpretation of our brief was excellent pushing at the boundaries of our expectations and ideas.
Since then they have taken the project through planning, tender and the build is almost complete. At all stages they have been exemplary, and I cannot recommend them highly enough.
