Extension to Bungalow in Basingstoke.

The work required was to provide an extension to my three bedroom bungalow. I have never embarked on a project quite like this, so I was new to the process. There is of course an element of luck involved in choosing your contractor, but the enthusiasm that Fiaz showed for my project was always most evident. Yes, of course he wanted the work (and this did coincide with Covid restrictions), but his enthusiasm seemed to stretch beyond normal boundaries. Ultimately, this was what swayed me and nothing happened during the build to cause me to regret my decision.

From day one I made it clear that my budget was fixed, without prior agreement there was no room for the cost to move. Prices did increase, but only with my agreement, so again I was very happy with the entire job. It was important to me to continue living in the house whilst the work was carried out. Fiaz accepted this with good grace and at no time did I consider this to be an issue. In fact I think this improved site security significantly. I was provided with a time estimate and again he managed to stick to it.

Many different people were utilised as members of his team throughout the work, so obviously some we got to know better than others, but overall I was pleased with the manner and politeness of all his work force. During the entire exercise nothing was too much trouble for them, often going above and beyond what was strictly required of them.

The standard of work was consistently high from initial brick work to final painting. Perhaps the most important point to note is his attitude to snagging and remedial work. In the real world, one hopes for little if any work of this nature to be required, but no matter how much time had elapsed before I brought a matter to his attention, Fiaz was happy to have the work carried out promptly even if the problem was not noticed until over a year had elapsed since the end of the project.

We chose Houseline Construction to carry out an extension to our bungalow, together with
alterations to make the house more wheelchair friendly for my husband. Having never
commissioned building work like this before, we were a little nervous that we would choose the
right builder. I’m happy to say we needn't have worried as Fiaz turned out to ‘tick all the boxes’
including: high standards of workmanship, friendly attitude, work completed in a timely manner
and to an agreed timetable.
While carrying out the work, Fiaz and his team always listened to our instructions, so we always
felt in control as the work progressed.
Cost considerations meant that we wanted to continue to live in the house whilst the work was
being carried out. Fiaz was very happy to accommodate our wishes, ensuring that the house was left
in a habitable state at the end of each day. At the beginning he gave us an estimate of the likely time
to complete the work. This estimate turned out to be remarkably accurate.
