We recommended Mooi architects to clients as a preferred architect for a large project. Aidan at Mooi was selected based on reputation and being a design led architect who would add value to a high end / contemporary design & build project. The scheme encompassed a large new-build garden room / entertaining space / AV room featuring architectural glazing, zinc roofing glass and zinc cladding. Additionally complete modernisation of the original building across ground and first floors, external works, reconfiguring spaces and some structural alterations, newly located kitchen , several bathrooms, around 300 m2 flooring and a very special bespoke cantilevered steel and glass staircase.
Aidan collaborated with us and other project suppliers in the design stages successfully undertook all planning approval and building regulations applications and drawings. Quality of design work was second to none throughout the process. His personable, friendly and reliable approach combined with drawing and design skills were an asset to the success of the project. His vision enabled our works to be undertaken to an extremely high standard. Having worked with a number of other practices and architects Aidan is a fantastic and collaborative architect who I would not hesitate to recommend. Having previously had work done that we were disappointed with, we spent some time researching architects and were prepared to wait to get the right one. Aidan supported us from start to finish and the end result far exceeded our expectations.

From preparing everything for planning and building control, working seamlessly with our builder, and coming up with great designs, to giving honest (but tactful) feedback and suggestions on our ideas, there hasn’t been an aspect of this project that Aidan hasn’t been involved with. The initial scope to extend and renovate the kitchen expanded to include bathrooms and a new patio, and we have been delighted with our new spaces.

It was great to have someone so knowledgeable to guide us. His suggestions and ideas were fantastic and we were able to add our own ideas to this. This means that we’ve got a beautiful, but highly personalised space that is absolutely perfect for our family and enhances our life daily. We were able to be braver and more ambitious, and are very thankful that Aidan encouraged us to be so.

We thought very carefully about who to choose as an architect. We were planning a large renovation to our house in central Cambridge which would take just under a year. Having had no experience with this before and with a very specific budget with little margin for errors we met several architects from larger firms before meeting Aidan at MOOi. The first time we met him was a revelation. He looked though our house and came up with grand ideas that we would never have imagined (think an entire wall of glass, a blue staircase and turning a study into a bathroom!). Choosing him was an easy decision. He worked with us throughout the entire process from designs to surveys, to planning applications and changes, to tenders for builders. We then chose him project manage and met him weekly on site with many phone calls and emails in between. We moved back home last month and our house is transformed beyond our wildest dreams into an amazing living space for our entire family. We have no hesitation in recommending both Aidan and MOOi. He is is thoughtful, caring and has an amazing eye to detail. He will argue with suppliers on your behalf to get costs down and above all he is a truly decent individual. We would be happy to give personal recommendations to future clients if needed and our one regret is that we will no longer meet Aidan for our weekly chats. Mooi Architecture has been such a help and guide throughout the process of our full house renovation in Cambridge. Very good communication, responsive, and considerate of our preferences, as well as just being lovely to work with.

After a lot of research online, we approached Mooi for our house project as we loved their style, and we knew it would fit well with our mid-century house.

From the start, Aidan was encouraging but honest about the costs involved. He clearly laid out the steps and stages from design through to build, navigating the building regs, planning and tender process, so we knew exactly what was going to happen and in what sequence. During the project he has provided incredibly practical advice, guidance and support, as well as some really wonderful design ideas that have drastically improved the look and feel of the house.

Hiring Mooi has been one of the best decisions we've made, and has been worth every penny.

We engaged Aidan from MOOi from the start of design, through the planning phase and the full construction phase for the extension and refurbishment of a period house in central Cambridge.

We found Aidan to be very professional, friendly and very easy to work with all through the project. He judged our brief well, he suggested interesting design and architectural ideas, but was always mindful of ensuring we were happy with all design decisions.

Aidan has extensive knowledge of navigating the planning and building regs requirements in a conservation area, which went through without a hitch for us.

Aidan defined the statement of works and oversaw the construction phase with the builders, which lasted 11 months. Aidan's knowledge and calm personable demeanour helped enormously when we encountered a few issues during the construction phase.

We are now in our finished house and very pleased with the result. Overall it was very positive experience working with MOOi and Aidan, would highly recommend to others.
