Adrian originally designed our rather large self build project whilst working for another architect firm. When he left, we had a less than pleasant experience with his replacement so we ditched them and approached Adrian at Artichoke where he picked up the gauntlet quickly restoring both harmony and professionalism. His drawings plus our ability to put together our own access and design statement meant that we got the plans passed first time and we now have a great home. We hired Artichoke Architectural Consultancy, Windsor, to design our new-build riverside home at Wraysbury.
Regrettably, after some two years, we had to find a new architect who better meets our needs.
In my opinion, the factors that made us change include
- Chris's continuing insistence that we use zinc cladding (despite my repeatedly highlighting it is not flood resilient),
- an apparent limited understanding of home lifts,
- drawing dimensions that did not conform to requests, as well as
- timeliness and value that did not meet expectations.
The success of any building project depends upon selecting an appropriate architect; sadly, our naïveté meant we followed a habit to encourage 'local' businesses, so made a mistake.
