Ali came and gave a clearer picture and what he felt was best design and flow for our project.

We picked Bluelime because they paid attention to our needs and seemed to go the extra mile. They came and looked at our home, discussed what we wanted and was prompt in “getting the ball rolling”. Our architect, Bryan has made some good suggestions, which we have considered and he has been friendly and approachable too. He has been informative on the next stage both in meetings and emails and has answered any queries.

We used Bluelime initially for our project on a three bedroom house to grow by two bedrooms and two bathrooms. After two proposals that were not in keeping with the brief we had given, we were then given a proposal which was great on the brief and would fit in with the local area. The process to this point had taken several months.

The new proposal fell at the first planning hurdle as the council has a very rigid policy for two storey extensions on property boundaries. We were told that we should appeal the decision, at a further cost to both money and time. The solution from Bluelime, move the proposed extension inside the boundary. This would have left a room that was 4 metres long by 1.5 metres wide. There were no further solutions to this plan.

Bluelime were very creative with a lot of ideas but there was no local knowledge. We spent a lot of time and money and got nowhere. With a local architect and surveyor we completed the project with outstanding results.

My original review (below) was written at the point of planning submission - I gave the service 5 stars because the designer who worked on my drawing had great communication and the vision for my project was great. I still stand by that. HOWEVER:

It's important to know that reviews are incentivised with M&S vouchers and are requested prematurely in my opinion. Please don't make my mistake and judge an architects design until it has been realised.

The architects carried out a full site survey and designed a loft bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. On the plan it looked fabulous but in reality there was nowhere near enough headroom for what they had drawn. Their design assumed that residents could navigate around the furniture with a head height of 150cm (5ft). The whole area had to be redesigned by myself and my contractors - Bluelime refused to take any responsibility and the error cost me an additional £3,000.

There were other issues that came up but each time Bluelime conveniently covered themselves with small print.

Whatever excuses Bluelime tries to give, I think it's unforgivable for a design to be completely impossible to execute. Tweaks and adjustments I could accept but this was ridiculous, especially with a full site survey and access to the loft space from the start, this is incompetence at its finest.

Just to add, my next door neighbour submitted similar plans created by Resi architects, they used the same contractors and had no issues at all. I did so much research when selecting an architect and one of the reasons I chose Bluelime was because of their great reviews.

This was an expensive and extremely stressful lesson.

My experience with the Blue Lime team so far has been great. I'm currently at the the end of the initial design stage, about to submit the drawings for planning approval. Dana has done a great job finding workable solutions to a few challenges I had. Communication is swift and professional at all times and I'm hopeful and confident that the remainder of the process will be equally stress-free. Very much looking forward to seeing her work come to fruition at the build stage in the near future.

We took a long time to find the right designers for our home and Bluelime, stood head and shoulders above the rest. We have been so impressed with the level of service received and approach/idea from the our dedicated Designer Bryan Johnson. Can not fault so far, looking forward to seeing the completion of our project.

It was / is our first time using an architect and when we started the process I did feel overwhelmed and confused. The architects at Bluelime Home Design were fantastic at explaining all steps and making me at ease about it all. Once we started going they also had immense patience, as a newcomer to architecture design I had many many questions and I did change my mind about the design few times. They just soldered on and now we are at a design which can work for me and my family. I am looking forward continuing working with Bluelime Home Design on making the design into reality. 🙂
