Automated gate projects seem to a difficult home improvement to coordinate and manage yourself. In my case I needed groundworks, a new drive laying, some significant electrical cabling to accommodate car charging points and then the custom gates measured and fitted for a sloping drive.

I tried pulling this together a few times and it just kept falling through with trades letting me down. I then reached out to CoDe who had done excellent work on my cottage before. Chris and his team were amazing from start to finish, no challenge was too complicated, and his team worked synchronously with the other trades involved, managing the overall installation.

I have tried to capture a sense of the challenge with all the angles and levels a 300 year old property brings but I don't think they do the work justice and certainly don't show all the planning and careful consideration that went on during the building works and installation of all the services and gates.

I know it’s a first world problem but I now have gates that open automatically, replacing a previous manual metal gate (a few photos below showing the old gate and drive) that opened onto the public footpath, held back with a bungie cable when I needed to get cars into the drive. They look great and work flawlessly.

If you want a project doing to a very high standard, on time and on budget then consider CoDe, they are busy but worth the wait.

Without having worked with builders previously we were very conscious that we had to be happy with the team we got in to support us through our home renovation.

From the beginning Chris was extremely approachable and gave great input and advice on the project. If there were any queries we had that he wasn’t sure of he contacted his catalogue of contacts to support.

Once the work started the ground was hit running and we were amazed how fast things started to come to shape. Everything was well organised and planned accordingly so that jobs were completed at the right time so as not to hold up the next job.

Chris runs CoDe Construction and among his workforce are two remarkable workers - Dave and George. They had the tricky task of patching up the roof and a blind outside first floor wall on our large house. They also restored an old pillar in the cellar and replaced the fibreglass insulation, installed forty years ago.
In the course of the work, Dave, very experienced and able to turn his hand to any building job, noticed a new gas pipe that had recently been installed by British Gas. This was unsupported over a length of about 4 metres and Dave fashioned out of metal, a device to fix the pipe to the ceiling - all done with no fuss.
We were struck by the close rapport between Chris and his employees and his skill of keeping us informed at every juncture. They really work as a good team.
