Ross and his team completed a full rebuild of our 200year old cottage in the woods. The project was complex and comprehensive specially as we wanted to preserve many elements of the old cottage including its appearance to the front yet end up with a warm well insulated modern home. This was achieved on time and on budget. We really liked working with Ross and his team who handled a sensitive site well and reassured the neighbourhood as they worked. We are very happy with the work, the attention to detail and the customer service from Coldwells. We have enjoyed a great relationship with Ross and his team, he has a strong and professionally close leadership style with his whole team and (a rarity these days) empathy with team and customer.
We found everyone to be reliable and trustworthy without reservation. Many hurdles appeared and were tackled in a most professional manner - from difficulties in Matters Specified in Conditions, to neighbours decision making, the need for good quality dry stone dykes to Gabion wall, heavy rain and extremely strong winds and - as hidden until excavations - the most enormous site boulders. Coldwells were not phased by all this, but moved ahead regardless and overcame difficulties one by one.

They cleverly mitigated costs for substantial foundations by using a rock crusher to supply the substantial base material already on site.

His whole team showed great courtesy to us and enthusiasm to deliver the best product possible and were happy to follow up to sort out the few faults found in delivered trade items and add minor additions to improve practical liveability.

They clearly get great satisfaction from their work and their preparations to build ultra low energy cost structures. We have no hesitation in recommending Coldwells Build as a reliable and fair organisation for collaboration, workmanship and quality in the creation of modern, practical and efficient buildings to suit future needs.

Ours was a small project, knocking through to add a "pod" to the back of the house that took us out about a metre from the original external wall x 3m. With the thickness of the wall we therefore added nearly 6m2 to our footprint. The idea was to get light into the back of the steading and, by removing the wall between the kitchen and hallway to open up the centre of the house. We are amazed at the result. It has transformed the way we live in the house beyond our best hopes.

Ross and his team were fantastic. Right from the beginning Ross helped us refine the plan and kept us focussed on what we were trying to achieve. Everything was done to a very high standard, much of it in appalling weather. The guys were unfailingly cheerful, polite and helpful. Unlike many previous experiences with others, Ross never once said to me that there was a problem. There must have been plenty along the way but he never worried us with them - just solved them and got on. The quality of the work is fantastic, the communication reassuring - there is no question we would use Ross again. Thank you Coldwells!

The scope of work was an extensive remodelling of several rooms involving structural engineering support, reflooring and re-roofing, and a double garage rebuild, on a Grade B listed site. Coldwells provided a professional, personal and high quality service throughout, being accommodating to scope changes and highly solution minded. The project undertaken by Ross Booth & his team at Coldwells Building Company Ltd was an extremely difficult reconstruction, involving the removal of a major part of the centre of the house, including the existing defective glass roof. A much more difficult project than a new build.

The method suggested & used by Ross enabled us to remain in occupation during the year long reconstruction period. A major plus as far as we were concerned.

The project was beset by many problems, including delays, extreme weather at precisely the wrong time, the coronavirus four month lock down & subsequent related subcontractor & component delays.

None of these problems were caused by the contractor, whose involvement was exemplary throughout.

Several contractors were used in the project, who were controlled & utilised admirably by Ross. This is a skill not possessed by many.

Ross was always there when needed, always responded to any request, never had to be chased, frequently suggested solutions & improvements which were invariably spot on.

Working with him was a pleasure.

For the avoidance of doubt, I am not a passive client who is easily pleased.

When I had this house built in 1992, my relationship with the contractor was a nightmare & a battle, ever step of the way & only narrowly avoided litigation at the end.

This project was the total opposite & the reason was that Coldwells, like all really good companies, reflected its owner's values.

If I were to undertake another major property project, either through myself or my Company, United Supplies Ltd, there would be no tender process,

I would pick up the phone to Ross Booth, in the knowledge that I could not do better.
