Terrible company who were sent to our home by our insurance company. They failed to properly scope the works, their communication was awful and the standard of work was very bad. The only 5 star reviews on here are written by their own Project Managers. Avoid at all costs.

Avoid this Company if you can, unless you like endless grief! Poor communication, disorganised, poor supervision and management. Men constantly pulled off of the job and then often not coming back for weeks. None of the employees are supervised properly. They were pulled off the job without tasks being completed, when they did turn up often they didn't have the necessary materials, even though it was obvious that paint, sealer, tiles etc were needed. We had to constantly chase them and project manage the work ourselves to get anything done. They ordered the wrong kitchen units and then blamed us, even though we had discussed our requirements with their staff and provided a plan. Some of the workers were messy and didn't respect our home, we were sick of clearing up after them. In the end we finished the work off ourselves as couldn't wait any longer to move back in. They took 7 months to do what could have been done in 2 months if they had stayed on site consistently and worked harder. Throughout the process no one in a supervisory capacity came to see how the work was progressing, and since completion we haven't heard from them since.

Absolutely dreadful. Appointed by insurers. Random workmen turned up with little idea of what they were doing and lacked skills. Showed lack of respect to my home and caused more damage than they fixed. never reply to emails. The worst company I've ever had the misfortune to come across.

Lack of communication, jobs took an eternity. Plumbing was fed wrongly, so that had to be corrected by another company. Kitchen took 5 months to complete, tap parts were missing, took from feb when kitchen arrived to august to get the parts and fit tap. Were repetitive in leaving the job for weeks sometimes, and no apologies were ever given by the project manager, or customer service. Radiator wrongly placed, radiator towel rail put in kitchen instead of a radiator, the list goes on. Today I am
Now told that my integrated dishwasher door won’t open because the units were put in without spacers, so the dishwasher door don’t have room to open. Now my kitchen has to be put right by another company, by loosening them all, putting spacers in then levelling and tightening back up. It’s been a living nightmare. What should have taken a year at the most, has taken almost two years. I
Don’t wish to be offensive, but I’m being honest in saying I definitely don’t recommend. Wouldn’t ever use again, and how I’ve been treated appallingly throughout. I was offered no input either. Totally Disgraceful. I could write a book on all the problems I have had to fight throughout the whole process. The only positive thing I can say is, there were 3 lovely builders who were friendly, and respectful, who were hard working, and did their best, but they were pulled off the job. (Thus the 3 stars) for those 3 men.

Disgrace of a company. Subcontracted all the work to another firm with absolutely no project management for a refurb. Didn't communicate with us on anything and were impossible to reach. Months of delays due to internal budget sign offs that were later rejected. Unfinished work and workers left fags rubbish everywhere. Shocking company avoid at all costs.

Did an excellent job rebuilding our wall, including going to extra trouble to blend in with older brickwork. Left the site spotless. Remy the bricklayer was very considerate and went out of his way to minimise disruption during 4 days he was here.

Jun 2017 This review is only my personal experience of one set of work with Colwins so I have no idea what they may be like with other work. To date our experience has been absolutely shocking. Colwins were contracted via our insurers to do some work on our house following some subsidence. Part of the work included the filling of a crack in the front wall of our house. Most of the work was done but the crack wasn't repaired. This was over 4 YEARS ago and we have been chasing them ever since. Every time my wife phones they take note, promise to have a look into it and find someone to come around and then never get back to her. The saga this year has been a classic in dissembling and avoidance. My wife has been phoning since January asking Colwins to come and do the work. Each time she has called she has mentioned that we have a fig tree in the garden that grows in front of the crack. She warned and warned that if Colwins didn't attend to the work then the tree would obstruct access to the crack and they wouldn't be able to get at it. Finally she phoned again at the beginning of June and said it may now be difficult to do the work as the fig tree is now back in fruit and has grown in front of the crack. Colwins replied by of course agreeing that they may not be able to come now if the tree had grown. When my wife asked why they had not come before when she asked and when the tree was bare the response was "Oh well we wouldn't do work like that in the winter because of the weather." Fantastic! A British construction company that apparently doesn't work in the winter because it rains! To date the work remains uncompleted.
