A Scheme That Values Image Over Accountability

My experience with the Considerate Constructors Scheme has been nothing short of disappointing. When I raised a detailed complaint about a construction project at The Mosaic—where a contractor blatantly misused CCS branding and failed to deliver proper notice—the response from CCS was utterly dismissive. Instead of taking meaningful action, they simply stated that because the project wasn’t formally registered, they have no power to enforce the Code of Considerate Practice or offer any help.

It is shocking that an organization touted as a champion for improving construction standards can be so unwilling to hold its members to account. Their advisory nature, which sounds nice on paper, leaves affected parties with no real recourse when things go wrong. Rather than genuinely supporting improved standards in the construction industry, the CCS appears to offer little more than an empty façade—while contractors continue to operate with misleading claims and unprofessional practices.

I would advise anyone relying on the CCS to take their promises with a hefty pinch of salt. Accountability and transparency seem to be nowhere in sight.

Nothing more than a box ticking scheme... No consideration whatsoever. The paths around this cricketers housing site in Sunderland are all ruined. Paving stones broken and then replaced with tarmac... Paving that's been there all my life... And the same as happened at the new farringdon school Sunderland...

I've had a site across the road from me for a few years who have caused damage on our home as well as a nuisance by working late into the nights. Upon contacting the scheme I was told they can't do anything more than forward my complaint on to the contractor. They have no way of enforcement and if he building firm doesn't want to obey there is nothing they can do. It's a voluntary scheme that really that simply plays lip service to being considerate but nothing more.

Pointless scheme, they don't care about any residents just as long as the construction company pays them to pretend they care. Had a site for over two years start at 7am everyday, council does nothing, CCS don't even reply.

I'm sure they'll reply with a generic please contact us, however I've called several times, they don't answer. Or when they do they tell me it shouldn't happen and I never hear back.

Unfortunately this scheme is nothing more than show. Sites all over London display the sign but yet make large amounts of noise when they shouldn't. Neighbors who contacted the scheme didn't get a result in any noise reduction on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

They do reply to emails but the contractor doesn't seem to change it's behaviour. Basically a sham dressed up as pointless .

From alarms going off, and not respecting their neighbours, how can HG construction be part of Considerate Constructors Scheme?

If you don't want to be dealing with developers on the doorstep yourself then they're great as a go between but not much else, happy to reward a 100% report score to contractors making noise at our door from 06.40 in the morning.
