Just had Mark and the team complete a kitchen extension and total refurb. They made a potentially stressful experience pleasant, inclusive and positive.
They start the job and turn up every day to work hard and finish it.
The standard of the work is second to none and at every stage we could trust them to just get on with it.
So the standard, cleanliness and quality are unbeatable , but what makes them special are the extra suggestions for improvement to the job which adds so much and improves the final result no end.
The attention to detail is also impressive and any extra jobs we asked them to do on top of the original work was costed and communicated so at all times we knew the score, but many of the suggestions noted above were done within the original quote and each one improved the outcome.
In short, if ever we need any more work done on our home, we won’t be looking for anyone else to do the job, and I suggest you do the same.

It gives us great pleasure to provide a reference for the work above undertaken in our house between February and June 2021 by Mark and the team from Construct Building and Development.

We first approached Mark in Spring 2020 and were taken by his professionalism, courtesy, knowledge and ideas. As fellow professionals working in the NHS as a Doctor and a Manager, it was clear that Mark knew his job inside out and took enormous pride in his work.

Mark provided a quotation for the complete work, which included the project management, and constantly kept us up to date with proposed start dates and timelines. Changes of schedule before starting were almost all down to horrendous weather and his team’s desire to ensure all aspects of building work for his previous customer, were finished to the highest standard before starting on our build. We were more than prepared to wait for Mark and his team to do the work for us and were reassured about his commitment to finishing one job before starting another. Once we had a firm start date it was set in stone and the completion date was only when we were totally happy with the work undertaken.

Our project was, for us at least, large scale. A 48m2 single story extension that involved a careful demolition of a 22m2 conservatory (which was so expertly dismantled that it was able to be sold on and rebuilt), followed by a huge excavation of 65 tonnes or more of earth, rubble and concrete; drainage work (internal and external) deep piling (12m); large steel reinforced footings and block and beam floor installation; removal of most of our back wall with huge steel supports; expertly matched new brick walls with 3 sets of large bifold doors; warm ‘flat’ roof installation with two large lanterns; insulation of existing and new flooring with new underfloor heating; screeding, plastering and decoration; laying of flooring and installation of a kitchen. In addition, we had our internal plumbing completely redesigned to make it a closed water system.

All of this was undertaken by Mark and his team at Construct, and when super specialised (piling; screeding and concrete pouring, ‘flat’ roof installation) work was required, this was subcontracted to excellent local companies that Mark knew well and had worked with before. All of their input was arranged, overseen, and checked by Mark to make sure it was up to his own very high standards.

Mark and his team were everything we wished for. They started when they said they would. They were on site every day that they were able to be, and when they were not, they let us know (some of the weather made it impossible to work for some days). They were engaging, extremely trustworthy (they had our keys and the run of the house for the whole job); unbelievably clean and tidy, professional, and they were always happy in their work. Their attention to detail is exceptional and the quality of workmanship (and this is from a fussy person!) is second to none. During the project Mark and the team had great ideas and suggestions almost all of which we took on, and it turned out really well. They know their stuff so I would listen to their suggestions!

Most, if not all, of our work colleagues and family who have had building work done have some things that they think could have been better, some minor (and major) disasters, problems with ‘time management’ and unexplained absences, and most could not wait to see the builders go. We had the complete opposite feeling. We would change nothing, and actually, we both had separation anxiety when the job was complete and they had to leave, so much so that we asked them all back for a small party a few weeks after completion and would like to say that we now consider them friends.

So, we would wholeheartedly recommend this exceptional team and would be more than happy for any prospective clients of theirs to come and see what they achieved – it has transformed our home. Thanks to the whole team, but especially Mark, Mike, Steve, Gary and Ray.
