Me and my family came all the way from Saudi to explore Colchester,and decided to visit this cutesy small village

The restaurant was great,we were a pretty big group when we came in ,but we got seated fairly quickly the food was amazing too.

To be honest the boat riding was a little overwhelming, the boat WASN’T tied to the deck when we tried to get on which tbh horrified me a little, when we started to row it was just to many people in the lake it became a norm to just row into people and vice versa
And if you thought you weren’t going to get wet, you would.

Overall it was a nice and fun experience and the whole thing had a rustic atmosphere to it, so it was a great change of pace

Gorgeous place for a long walk, picnic or some water sports.
You can bring your own kayak or paddle board or rent one from New wave paddle boards. Parking is only £5 for the day- closes at 6pm.

Stunning Constable country. We parked at Mill Lane Dedham Car Park, which is reasonably priced and easy to park, and then walked via the footpath along the River Stour to Flatford and back using a circular trai. Recommend taking in Willy Lotts cottage, famous for the Haywain, and having a Cream Tea in the garden at the National Trust Tea Room, Flatford.

Great eatery. Lively pretty location near the river. Well behaved dogs welcome. Food fantastic as is service . Prices reasonable and very clean presentation. For the staff nothing ti much trouble. Loved my visit the Dedham Vale area cery pretty lots of history and views. Visit the small quaint high road and the magnificent church , there a charity shop there to which is small but quality items.

Gorgeous tranquil setting for long walks, well deserving of its AONB status. Dedham town is within easy reach, with plenty of well-maintained and signposted walks managed by The National Trust. Large areas are used to graze livestock but public footpaths are accessible everywhere despite this. There are also numerous points of interest within the area, including Willy Lott’s House and the Constable visitor centre.

Fantastic walks along the river and around the village of Dedham. There is also a reasonable distanced walk along the river to and from Flatford. Great walks any time of the year, but does get very busy during the summer school holidays.

Very pretty villages surrounded by pleasant countryside. Lots of opportunities for walks and boating and plenty of history to find out about. Dedham itself has very attractive and home to plenty of shops and cafés. Flatford Mill is a must see, and Nayland, Stratford At Mary and East Bergholt are just a few other nearby villages worth seeing.
