We were having a loft conversion to our property in Hangleton. Phillip Young came and did the survey and measuring up in order to generate the structural calcs and steel placements for the build etc. However, it later transpired that he’d done all of his calc based on the joists in our ceiling running the wrong way (ie they run front to back, but Phillip assumed or guessed side to side). This was only uncovered once the roof was off the house and the builder was naturally puzzled that the structural plans were totally wrong. Nobody senior at Dixon Hurst took accountability and instead they sent a junior staff member who had to rejig their plans, which then included another £6k worth of steels?! We obviously had no choice but to pay it as we had no roof by this point and the weather was getting worse.

I emailed Phillip at the time to complain and ask for an explanation but he never bothered replying. And to add insult to injury, Dixon Hurst then tried to charge us got the revised plans!!

One of the worst and most stressful experiences for me and my family, but just the shear lack of interest from a senior surveyor who make the initial mistake was unexpected.

Luck of communication from office and Nick himself. This time they have showed zero professionalism when it came to the work they were doing. Cause a massive delay on the project with out a single explanation or even an apology from them. The office were very rude when asked why have we haven’t had a respond after sending email after email to them. We had paid the fees for the project 9 Osmand gardens. Nicks who took the project seem to always try and avoid given out anything, although we had paid them. Now two and half months in yet we have nothing on the table apart from a small section of the design which is not enough and the job isn’t required to be done now. We have had excuse after excuse from nick. I believe he is not experienced enough to do a job at this nature but we should have been told before fee were taken as we would have look for someone else. We will seek legal action against them. Very unprofessional.

Another project successfully delivered on time and budget by Nick at Dixon Hurst.

Creating six rooms across three floors incl. a loft conversion required the creative solution of a new spine and staircase allowing for minimum steels to the existing three bed house.

The build team were thankful for the insightful simplicity that saved their labour and time. The clear precise calcs were turned around quickly. I look forward to working with DH on the next projects.

I use DIxon Hurst frequently for all our structural work, they are always able to do site visit's at short notice and if any issues arise they are always quick to resolve / redesign as necessary. I would recommend.
