The initial consultation with Paul was professional and he comes across as very approachable - until he gets the job. He estimated the work could take up to 2 days but this quickly turned into more partly due to the fact he couldn’t get the materials he required to complete the job which meant him leaving part way through the day. I had to source some simple materials (render sand and pebbledash) as he was incapable of doing so and this was going to hold the job up even more. He couldn’t complete the job after he informed me he would need to charge a day rate (£360) for coming back to finish the small render patch repair and his day rate applied whether he turns up for a day or a couple of hours - this explained why I had been charged for the days previously when he had only attended part of the day. This was not explained from the outset and reflects incredibly poor communication on his part. Needless to say I was not going to pay him a day rate for a couple of hours (being generous in estimate) work. He removed the rubble for an extra charge (again not communicated from the outset) but left my yard messy and a job incomplete - never again.

UPDATE- he did not half the original estimate as claimed - he only halved one day’s ‘ day rate’ and only when challenged by me for charging me £360 for half a day’s work. Outrageous and grossly unprofessional. As for the tidy up - the photos speak for themselves and he remained on the property while the scaffolding was taken down. This was not fine dust left behind. Amazing how the ‘national shortage’ of render sand he claims did not extend to a national merchant in Sunderland. The excuses just get bigger 🙄

DLC undertook our repointing, lintel repairs, crack stitching, blown brick replacement and replacement wall ties on our property. All work done to a very good standard, repointing done beautifully (old style with a trowel, no icing bags or guns in sight). Thanks to Paul's experience all issues were diagnosed at quote stage so the price quoted was exactly as delivered.

I'm a Technical Engineer by profession, I could tell Paul's vast experience in this field was impressive and gave me great confidence / peace of mind that he could rectify a difficult issue left behind by an incompetent builder. His quote regarding day rates and materials was clear and he was always prompt and arrived early each day to tackle the tasks ahead. His work is meticulous and considerate as he also took time to notify neighbours of the work he was planning to undertake. It's evident to me that DLC's work is delivered with quality and to a very high standard. He left our property in a better condition than he arrived, very clean and tidy and disposed of all materials as agreed. We found DLC Structural Solutions online and after explaining our reason for calling them, Paul made an appointment to visit us three days later to assess our situation. From the outset Paul was very polite and professional, taking a considerable amount of time to thoroughly inspect both inside and outside of the property in order to determine the cause of the problems relating to our area of concern, followed by the solutions to remedy them which were explained clearly. A fully detailed quote for the works was given two days later which itemised everything and gave a timeline for completion. He answered all of our questions, did not apply any sales pressure, but just said that if we wanted to proceed to call him back to diary a date to carry out the quoted works, which we subsequently did. Both Paul and his son Dean were very polite, friendly and very approachable. They arrived each day on time and prior to starting work would explain the planned work for the day ahead, were considerate to our neighbours in notifying them in advance of the noise levels and that dust will be produced during the works to be done. They were very thorough, worked well as a team, having only one short meal break each day with the rest of the time spent on the job completing the works which was finished to a very high standard indeed. When the work was completed the worksite inside was cleaned up using an industrial hoover and the worksite outside swept up, then washed down with water. At the end of the job the final bill was exactly as Paul initially quoted and all rubbish produced was bagged, then taken away. We would recommend Paul and his team and should we require any work completed in the future we would not hesitate in contacting them again to do it.

Outstanding. Paul and his son's Dean and Chris are very personable, extremely reliable and their professionalism shines through from the start. We needed 6 lintels replaced and they explained everything clearly and concisely and appraised us each step of the way and before commencing any additional work, which was obvious needed doing; no pressure applied but sound advice given from start to finish. I'm not easily pleased but they kept to the original lowest quote even though they did come across multiple problems which they duly rectified. The cost was very reasonable and I can't fault what they did. They cleared up after themselves which is very pleasing to see these days. I would highly recommend DLC and have already booked further work I'm that impressed! Thank you again!

Paul and his sons have done several jobs for us and we have found them to be completely professional in every part, from the initial first meeting , Paul explains what he indends to do and explains every step as he goes along , he lets us know the time line and when he found a issue with a very large crack he explained that he would have to check our foundations. They arrive on time and get on with the job straight away, they tidy up afterwards and leave you with the knowledge that what they have done is to first class standard.
I would recommend DLC to anyone , they do what they say they are going to do and more.

We recently bought a house which was found to have some major structural problems. We found DLC structural solutions online and Paul came out the next day to assess our situation. Both Paul and Dean were friendly and approachable. They were honest, hardworking and very thorough when it came to making sure everything was done correctly. We had all the work explained to us and felt able to stop them at anytime to ask questions. All building work is stressful and they both worked really hard to reassure us throughout. Their work was finished to an exceptionally high standard and we can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done for us.
