We couldn't recommend Darren and team enough, they have been absolutely amazing. He has truly transformed our house and turned our vision into reality. The full experience has been extremely positive, stress free and enjoyable.

From the first time we met Darren we could tell we would get on. He understood our vision and made everything feel like it would be a breeze ( and actually it has been). Coupled with an itemised quote, which he billed us against meaning we could keep track of our budget.

His professional know-how came across straight away and he did not disappoint with the finished product. We wanted a high ceiling open plan single story extension with quite a bit of glass, we wanted to avoid a support pillar, he reassured us that the steelwork could be done and helped us navigate our welsh water build over agreement too.

Darren and his team are polite, trustworthy and respected our house, garden and neighbours. They worked extremely hard including throughout winter with some rediculously rainy days. They made it easy for us to continue to live in our house with a toddler ( even with half the back of the house being completely open for the worst few months of winter).

Darren just had the right mix of the team and contractors on site as needed. One day I counted we had 11-15 people here, with his full team and some contractors all getting on with their own part to allow us to start using the space from that weekend.

Their work was completed within the estimated timeframe he gave us. We had a few issues with our kitchen provider and some doors needed to be changed, he kindly slotted us in, same with any changes we added in (including an under-stairs cupboard, change of internal doors and new patio) and made it all feel like it was no bother.

I’m not sure how to explain the great experience we have had, I suppose they have just been a lovely bunch of people, knew what they where doing and whenever we asked them anything it was as if time was on pause to answer anything we needed.

We would definitely use Forty Builders in the future and would highly recommend them.

Darren and his team did a complete refurb of our 50s semi in 2019. They did a faultless job, turning a nice (but tired) house into a fantastic, stylish home. They were recommended by our surveyor and we couldn't have hoped for better. It was done on time and on budget. Most importantly, the standard of detail and finish was absolutely brilliant.

So, we got them back in 2023 and they did another brilliant job building us a loft conversion. They talked everything through with us and squeezed every inch of space out of the build. As well as a large double-bedroom with window seat, we manged to fit in an en-suite with a bath and a separate shower, and a small walk-in wardrobe. Everyone onsite was considerate and courteous and the standard of finish was excellent (again!) They even managed to match the original banister and newel posts – it looks like the extra flight of stairs had always been there.

From the very first meeting with Darren we were confident he was the builder for us, he was polite, professional and clearly demonstrated his ability to deliver our project The architects design involved a number of complex angles within the structure which other builders had shown reluctance in undertaking due to its complexity. Darren provided a free competitive quote, time frames & payment structure, which enabled us to budget our project. We were prepared to wait until he was able to commit to the build & we have not been disappointed.
Darren and his team have built us a beautiful extension which includes a kitchen diner, utility room & downstairs cloakroom & patio area. We asked for extras including the demolishing of an internal wall which added time to the project & we thank Darren for his flexible approach to the request. The team were punctual, hard working, trustworthy, polite and a joy to have in our home, as we were living in it whilst the work was undertaken. Darren was always available for advice and suggestions & if there were any problems they were quickly and professionally addressed.
We would not consider anyone to undertake work for us.

Darren and his team at Forty Builders are absolutely superb. We had difficulties finding builders to take on a substantial renovation of our 1930's house, encompassing a large knock through/single storey extension and upstairs dormer/renovation. Others were either put off by the large amount of steelwork involved or provided extremely misleading quotes.

Darren's quote on the other hand was realistic, competitive and extremely detailed. It was clear they had recent experience of large scale jobs, with a real understanding of building regulations and structural requirements which really put us at ease. In addition they were clear that everything was priced into the quote, which means no 'stealth' fees as the build progressed.

When the build commenced Darren did as much as humanly possible to ensure everything ran to plan. He and his team were extremely punctual, attentive and did their best to minimise disruption as we had no choice to live in the house as the works were carried out. There were no down days which meant you saw constant progress. Unlike some other builders they really cared about our needs, placing an emphasis on clear communication which enabled us to make considered decisions as and when required. Darren went to great lengths to make sure he understood our 'vision' for how we wanted our extension to look, but he also made sure he managed our expectations so that we understood what was possible and what wasn't. He and his team would always take the extra time to explain the next stage of the process for us which really alleviated any built up stress as homeowners.

Flexibility is also a huge plus for them. We had several difficulties with our kitchen including missing units and poor customer service from our chosen retailers. Despite the disruption this caused, Darren made sure his team worked around revised timescales without causing further delay. A little overlooked but also massively important is the level of aftercare they provide. If something isn't quite finished to their extremely high standards they make it their priority to fix as soon as possible.

Overall I couldn't recommend Forty Builders enough. They place a premium on being extremely professional and their reputation is more than deserved. I will definitely be using them again in the future when we tackle the rest of the house/garden!

We had lots of work done last year by Darren Forty and his team, our house has gone from 1980s house to a 2020 house. Darren come up with some great ideas, but is also prepared to listen to your ideas. Nothing is too much trouble, even if you change your mind about something.His team are reliable and friendly and very tidy, everything was cleared up every day. We would recommend him and his team to anyone.

When we first met up with Darren to discuss a quite lengthy refurbishment and extension to a bungalow which needed much TLC we immediately felt reassured by his professionalism . This was endorsed throughout the whole project along with his ability to approach everything in a positive and friendly manner and resolve any issues that arose quickly and without fuss. Whilst in the process of the work Darren has some quite significant health issues which he dealt with in the same manner in which he approaches everything … we would never have known unless he had made us privy to the information which we appreciated We cannot recommend him highly enough and really have enjoyed what could have been a stressful experience and which has been finished to an extremely high standard along with what we know will be a continued friendship as he continues to check in in order to ensure all is to our satisfaction and also to his. Darren Forty Builders has done an amazing job building our new extension that also included fitting a new kitchen.
From the quote to the finished article Darren and his team were very professional, polite, extremely industrious and timely in their work.
We found Darren very easy going but thorough in his methodology.
We explained what we wanted from reconfiguring existing walls to building a new extension to house our living, dining and kitchen area.
All we picked was the kitchen units, cooker, white goods and flooring then everything else was down to Darren and his team.
On seeing the end product, we and all who have witnessed an exceptionally finished article, have nothing but praise for a superbly impressive piece of work - without doubt a ‘wow’ factor moment!
All the way through, Darren was able to offer his considerable experience and expert advise to guide us through a trouble free project which also included a beautiful item of bespoke lighting.
His pricing was fair, he came in on time, on budget and delivered on quality.
The biggest compliment we can give Darren is that we trust him and his Team and for those of us who are unexperienced in dealing with the building trade, it is the one of the most important aspects of your relationship with any tradesman.
