Garland & Bird did a two part build for us, a loft conversion and a side extension to our kitchen. In every way, they were fantastic.

The team were there every day, rain or shine and a pleasure to be around, particularly for our young sons

We had an extension and kitchen installed by Gus. Andy and his team. They were professional, friendly and did a fantastic job. Throughout the job we were kept up to date and the cost was reasonable. They were very accommodating with us as we added extras on to the job. Nothing was too much trouble for the team and there was always smiles all round and a great attitude. We have since asked the team back to do other jobs for us as we feel confident in their great service delivery. We highly recommend this team.

These guys completed our ground floor extension a few years back. I hesitated to give a review at the time as I wasn’t happy with many things and didn’t want the drama, but with years of ongoing snagging with doors, windows and flooring I’ve finally decided to give a review. I’m only giving three stars as their finishing is not good. Most significantly our very expensive doors and windows do not fit. The bifolds have never fitted properly and regularly the handles fail. The doors and windows are very drafty as there are large gaps. The side door has never opened fully due to a wonky wall (which they built as part of the extension). The original parquet flooring in the playroom which they said they could sand back was so terribly done it would have been better to do nothing as it needs redoing - and they charged us £1000 for the privilege. The paint job in the downstairs bathroom is not great - wonky lines in a dark colour. The tiling is very poor in the downstairs bathroom also. There is a big step up to our bifold door which means we lose space in the kitchen - was never in the plans and was clearly done last minute to bodge / make the door fit as it arrived the wrong size I’m guessing. They charged us to take down an old shed which we asked them to do, and I advised there was a small amount of asbestos - which they broke up without a care and left pieces of it for me to find in the garden (I had two small children then and was finding pieces all the time!) I could go on and on. Not only that
- having given them tens of thousands of pounds they then charged us to fit the tumble dryer which had arrived later than planned!
No stop cock was fitted which caused huge problems.

Three stars is generous I think given the grief we’ve had ever since.

This team deserves a review and I’m not even finished with my building work! So far the extension across the back of my house has been completed and we are now in the process of refurbishing the kitchen. Tony and Andy have been nothing but amazing so far. They spend time explaining everything before they go ahead and make sure we are all clear what needs to be done. Costing and planning is all dealt with up front so no hidden surprises .Their whole team is a huge credit to them and the standard of work is top class. Nothing is too much trouble. They are 100% trustworthy and i am more than comfortable leaving them to come and go as they need to. They always leave the site spotlessly tidy and clean. So far I am really pleased with their work and work ethic as a company. They would certainly come highly recommended.

Andy, Tony and the whole team at Garland & Bird did an excellent job with my extension. The quality of their work is really good, they are tidy and made things as painless as possible during the build. They are also trustworthy, you can leave them to do their work with the reassurance they will do a quality job that the client is very happy with.
I contacted Garland and Bird after they were recommended to me, and based on my own experience of their building work I'd definitely recommend them to others without any hesitation.

We had our extension built in 2022 and the glass roof lights had a manufacturing issue and needed replacing. Tony Garland sorted out replacement units and then fitted them this week. A tricky job but done very efficiently. Great customer care !
Recently I asked G&B to reconfigure our bathroom and install new power shower. They did a lovely job and it’s made a big difference to the house. In addition I asked them to replace the garage roof as it was leaking (not for the first time) and the new GRP roof is excellent!

Overall 5 stars ? from us. If needed, would definitely use them again
