Nothing infuriates me more than an auction house profiteering on postage and packing, when you’ve bought from there auction house. I like GY but two small items and the cheapest they charge is £35.87 and it costs £6.15 to send and they use second hand bubble wrap, it just shouts greed. I’m also a business and I send “free” uk shipping so I am fully aware of costs. £30 profit is a disgrace and is disrespectful to the trade.

The Grantham team Simon , Ben and Adam , were amazing we have travelled from New Zealand , They have made this very personal and emotional experience great , and been very considerate and professional and supportive throughout the 4 days of our Estate clearance, we would recommend this wonderful team to everyone . I won a lot from this auction house at the end of last week. Since that date I have been travelling in the US. 3 days after the sale I received an updated invoice with a £20+VAT late payment fee. It almost doubled the cost of the lot. I paid the original invoice immediately I saw it and asked that they waive the late payment fee - I paid it just a few hours after their deadline. Their response was pious beyond belief asking that I don't embarrass their staff by asking that they waive the fee. I've bought from dozens of auction houses over the years and i have a good relationship with all of them. I have next had a later payment fee applied. I will not purchase from them again and I would urge caution. Added to that their attitude is extremely poor and they should revisit it. Read their terms and conditions very carefully because they apply a policy that I have not experienced anywhere else - whatever they might say.

Thank you to Richard and the team for providing a thoughtful and professional service regarding the clearance of my family home. Your service (while working full time) made a challenging time, far easier. You packed everything carefully and despite horrible weather, you left the property unmarked. I particularly liked the careful cataloguing of items and regular paperwork that provided an audit trail as to where everything was going. My Dad Nd Uncle visit this auction house regularly. From bidding to paying and collecting, everything is very simple. There is a very lovely lady who answers the phones and she's always very helpful if you need anything. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Went to the Lincoln collective sale for the first time. Masses of lots spread over seven hours of bidding. Kirsty Young head and shoulders the best on the rostrum. Punchy prices but enjoyable. Pleasant and helpful staff.
