We have had a very impressive experience with Geraint as our architect. He was very patient and professional in every aspect of achieving our planning permission. I had been looking for an architect for several weeks, spoken to a couple who weren't quite the right fit and then found GP Architecture Studio via a Google search. I have now been working with Geraint Phillips (architect) for several months and have been thoroughly impressed by his obvious design skill and willingness to take on all parts the planning process. I gave Geraint the task of designing the renovation of my property, a 150 year old double-fronted stone cottage in Wales as well as three extensions (sunken kitchen, entrance lobby with adjacent bathroom, third bedroom) and off-road parking area with access from the main road. I gave him a brief of 'boutique vineyard meets James Bond pad meets traditional Welsh cottage with some Jurassic Park boulders to the exterior' - not the easiest of briefs. Yet, Geraint seemed to enjoy the challenge, incorporated an arboretum into what will be the old kitchen and incorporated my request for a sunken kitchen to the rear. Geraint was also very happy to tweak the designs at my request e.g 'an additional piece of glass here or there' and produced two different designs giving me the opportunity to compare and contrast options and ultimately choose my favourite. Geraint supplied the designs to me electronically as well as ordered large paper copies to be delivered to my home and this meant that I could pore over the designs at my leisure. Geraint then took on the task of submitting the chosen design and additional paperwork to the Carmarthenshire County Council and dealt with all of the Planning Officer and Building Regulation Officer queries/requests. We received full planning permission a few weeks later. The architect fees associated with all of this work were incredibly reasonable and Geraint provided a service fee structure at the beginning of of his engagement which was easily digestible to a lay person like me. During the course of the designing and seeking planning permission process, I have had a number of questions and Geraint has responded to my emails and phone calls very quickly providing me with the information I sought. I have been so impressed with GP Architecture Studio that I have recommended Geraint to my sister and three of my neighbours and I look forward to Geraint seeing the renovation and building process through to full fruition.
