These contractors did such a bad job it is hard to know where to begin. One of their tasks was to redecorate walls where a leak had caused the walls to crumble. They needed to sand down the walls, apply filler, then stain blocker and then paint. Instead of doing a thorough job on two walls they failed to do any sanding or filling and on all walls, instead of using paint blocker they used gloss paint for wood. The main contractor left a bathroom half tiled, with a gaping hole in the wall and pipes that hit the floor and left the bath with no water pressure. When the resident complained she received a telephone call from the boss: Terry Gray telling her not to say anything as the contractor had heart problems and if he got upset it might kill him. And I needn't start on how long it took them to not finish the job (because they then all walked out): over 6 weeks. They hardly ever turned up and when they did they broke things, did not replace them and left the place in a worse state than before they started. Truly shocking. Do not use!

They have so many operatives they send someone round who makes a mistake then need send someone else to rectify it - better off doing the job oneself. And they are unreliable, never showing up or missing appointments or being off sick. Sadly used by Housing Associations and Councils so tenants have no other option. If you can choose, don't use.

Avoid Greystone Builders Merchants at all costs. Their staff are unprofessional. The staff are always on holiday or off 'sick'.

In the vast majority of cases, the workmen don't turn up at the agreed appointment times. They don't even let you know they're not turning up, and you have to spend hours and hours phoning them to get them to sort out the simplest problem.
