We bought an 1890s barn with disparate outbuildings which had been partly renovated many years earlier but needed significant work and extensions upward and outward and required technical know how and imagination -pretty much a blank canvas .

We were having issues with planning but a sister barn which was previously part of the same larger estate had recently sailed through planning without any issues- Hayward Smart were the project’s architects.

We called Simon and he came round that afternoon and sketched out his ideas which worked for us perfectly and was subsequently approved by planning without any issues .

We worked throughout with Simon and Rob .

They helped us with the Planning Consultant , the Quantity Surveyor and arranged a beauty parade of Builders and all of them proved to be top drawer and got the job done within budget and not too far beyond the anticipated completion date .

Rob was very hands on and worked closely with the builders and any additional drawings required were provided quickly and efficiently. He even prepared a floor tiling map and the electrical lighting and sockets placement drawing was a work of art . Regular on site meeting were held with the builders which ensured smooth progress . Extremely diligent and professional.

The whole process was seamless and pretty much stress free .
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Hayward Smart .
My son is extending a 1960s house in Oxfordshire and based on my own earlier experience , we asked Simon and his team to act on their behalf - which they have done in the same efficient and professional manner
