Cant give no stars wish i could.
Terrible service, called several times wanting advise on some works to my listed home, eventually had a call back 3 weeks later advising that they would come out to see me. I took the time off work but nobody turned up. I called to check and they said a colleague would be with me shortly. An entire day wasted. Called the following day only to be given excuses. Spoke to a so called architect in the office who apologised and they said they would investigate and come back to me surprise surprise nothing. Said i could do works under Permitted Development only later to find out i wouldnt by another Architect whom did turn up to the appointment. You were recommended but i wouldnt recommend you.

We bought a 1 1/2 storey 'shed' made out of bits of other buildings with very constrained planning permission. Hickman and Smith have creatively designed us a comfortable 3 bedroom home including very useable rooms with storage upstairs where we only expected a loft space. They listened and took on board all our requests and it was great to be involved in a collaborative process. Almost every issue was resolved with a good solution - not compromise. The contract management service provided a good interface with our builder and other contractors. The end result is a very special 'forever' home in a lovely rural setting. I would highly recommend Hickman & Smith Architects. Throughout the process the communication was first class with swift responses to emails and ease of access to staff by telephone. I experienced some significant delays with the local council but David worked tirelessly and proactively to push things along and get a decision from the council which was a huge help to our planning application. Designs produced meet all requirements and the visuals look fantastic. Although we are yet to complete the build I have no doubts that the finished article will look fantastic.
