I worked very closely with Chris Nichols (of Ian Stemp Landscape Associates) for a considerable period of time. The design brief involved the transformation of a central village green space which included installation of play areas/equipment, new planting and landscaping together with new access pathways. The site is of historical significance and, being classified as an ancient monument, there were many obstacles to overcome and negotiations to perform; not least those imposed by Historic England. The project had also to be cognisant of, and sensitive to, local residents in the immediate vicinity.
Chris Nichols’ approach to this project was exemplary. It was immediately apparent that his initial design proposals were entirely in keeping, and sensitively reflected the local setting. Dealings with both client, external agencies and contractors were entirely professional throughout the course of the project in spite of the difficulties experienced, and these were many. As a result, his patience, tact and humour instilled much confidence in his ability to adapt and to be flexible in order to achieve his goals without compromising the high standards he set for himself. As a result, the trust placed with him was fully justified. My only criticism relates to some delays in progress at times – though some of which were the result of circumstances beyond his control.
In conclusion, and based on the direct experienced gained, I can fully recommend Ian Stemp Landscape Associates as a business well worth considering for your project.
