I was recommended J P Chick & Partners and although I did not used them, the prompt communication from Ross and level of detail in just some preliminary emails was admirable.
Their turn around times also seemed exceptional compared to other companies I spoke to.

Last November, we had a disappointing experience with JP Chick & Partners Ltd. We feel compelled to share our overall dissatisfaction to caution others considering their services.

The most notable problem we encountered was their lack of accountability. Instead of taking responsibility for mistakes in our project, they shifted blame and charged us extra for the time it took them to rectify their errors. Their poor customer service added to our disappointment, as they failed to offer adequate support or solutions despite our concerns.

They had assigned a graduate engineer to our project without any oversight from a senior member of their team. When our builders told us that the calculations weren't correct, they expected us to request additional measurements rather than proactively addressing the situation. We had to take some measurements ourselves for them to redraw the project!

The project ended up costing a staggering 75% above the initial quote, which was already high. This increase was primarily due to critical mistakes made by JP Chick engineers. Notably, two newly installed beams had to be redone, and an additional lintel had to be made – a necessity overlooked by their graduate engineer, despite their supposed expertise in similar projects.

While we opted to avoid further financial strain by refraining from pursuing legal action, primarily due to the mounting expenses and our inability to afford legal advice, our foremost concern remained maintaining our family's well-being, particularly with a young child requiring attention. Nonetheless, we believe it's crucial to share our experience to caution others seeking a reliable engineering company in Norwich. If anyone would need more information, feel free to get in touch.

Our architect recommended JP Chick as a very reliable company and we weren't disappointed. Ross was extremely helpful and also timely, even when we had to come back later for something extra, and it was a pleasure to work with him!

I just googled the company to get some information I need for a new instruction and I saw the last review which nudged me into adding my own review.

I instruct JP Chick & Partners, not just for professional matters but personal ones too. That has been the case for years. They have even won trials on some of my litigated cases. I am yet to have a disappointing experience with this company and it is for that reason I continue to instruct JP Chick & Partners time and time again. The engineers have exceptional abilities and very personable, and the support team are so friendly, even when chasing a very overdue bill payment!

Whilst some may feel compelled to share their overall dissatisfaction about the company after all the work to their property has been complete, most others would have the work stopped immediately upon noticing an issue and they would take whatever action is necessary to ensure that the company they no longer trusted was off the project and another trusted entity brought in to complete the work, with a view to pursuing the original company for wasted costs at a later date. All that gets blown out of the water when you just use the same company to the end and then choose to complain about it; little weight can be placed on that.

I instructed J P Chick & Partners to perform a structural survey on a property that I was looking to buy. They carefully analysed the structure and produced a full report, noting a number of issues that could be costly, including a flat roof in need of replacement and cracks in a retaining wall. The report was helpful in both highlighting structural issues and explaining in layman’s terms what work would be required to address them. This information proved highly valuable.
