Our two storey garage extension came in on budget and within a few weeks of the agreed schedule. Mainly due to the weather. James's builders were professional and friendly. They turned up regularly and were committed to getting the job done to a high standard. As with all builds there will be the odd thing that doesn't quite go to plan but James was happy to put right a few little things that needed a bit of finessing. We're thrilled with the outcome the outside of the house looks very nice and fits well with the rest of our Close. The rooms have turned out exactly as we planned and we would be very happy to recommend them to friends and neighbours.

When we first met James we were impressed with his suggestions & positive attitude in undertaking a new extension, and he was able to offer solutions & costs to make the project affordable & within budget.

The construction eventually started in July 2023, and it was finished just before Christmas 2023, but due to heavy rain during this period, the work ended up a couple of weeks behind schedule.

His team of builders, roofers and plasterers were always very professional & approachable, always able to adapt & discuss options to improve the structure during the process.

All the work was completed to a very high standard, which was reassuring, and shows that James is able to undertake complex projects, with a team of highly skilled individuals successfully.

We would have liked more contact with James during this period when issues arose, but saying that he always came back to us or a site visit organised, and the problems resolved within a few days!

We would highly recommend James White Construction for any building project, as we are very happy with the final results!

I contacted James to provide a quote for double side extension and ground floor renovation. The extension would consist of a playroom downstairs and ensuite bathroom and dressing room upstairs. The renovation on the ground floor involved creating an open plan living space out of 3 existing rooms and dividing another room into an office and utility room.

To quote for the job I sent James our architect plans and he provided a quote with a comprehensive break down of everything needed to complete the job. The quote was very competitive and after reviewing previous work and an in-person discussion at the house we accepted. Before the work started we received a programme of works which broke down the sections of the build with timings for each stage. This turned out to be fairly accurate despite some unforeseen issues and delays with the kitchen purchased through another provider, the job was completed only a few weeks after we expected which we were very pleased with.

Due to the nature of the work, much of the house would be unusable for a large part of the build. We wanted to stay at the house as long as possible and James was very accommodating with this, building the side extension first before any of the ground floor work. This added a couple of weeks to the build, but this was communicated at the time and we were happy with the decision.

We paid for the work monthly and items in the initial quote that were completed that month were ticked off the list. This really suited us and allowed us to visualize progress and confirm what we had or hadn’t paid for at the end of the job. Anything additional that we requested was quoted for first and added to the bill allowing us to budget for everything else we wanted.

James and his team were very professional throughout the build, knowledgeable and skilled contractors, they completed the work to a very high standard. James was very particular on finish and had work redone if he wasn’t happy with it (before us mentioning it) which was very reassuring. Any snagging was dealt with without issue. Most of the communication throughout the build was through text or email and we met several times at the property with him and the contractors for decision making or to check progress. When paying invoices I dealt with Rebecca through email who was very pleasant, quick to respond and happy to explain any queries I had.

Overall, we are extremely happy with the build and the overall experience with James and his team. I have already recommended him for work and wouldn’t hesitate to do so again in the future.
