There aren’t enough words to describe how good John and Tim are at what they do, and there is virtually nothing they cannot do!

We found John through friends for whom he and Tim had built an enclosure to keep a mobility scooter securely off the street and we were very impressed with the quality of the work they had carried out, building a low wall and installing a metal gate.

We asked John for an estimate to renovate a very old, mouldy bathroom with a leaking shower tray, which had damaged the ceiling of the kitchen below. We had had a number of plumbers in, but no-one had been able to find the cause of the leak, which turned out to be a hairline crack in the shower tray. John removed the rotting wood underneath it and replaced it with new joists. In addition, he fitted a shower quadrant and PVC marble-effect walls, a washbasin and vanity units, a toilet cistern and toilet bowl, an illuminated LED bathroom mirror, a ceiling light and an exhaust fan, as well as laying vinyl flooring, plastering and repainting the walls and fitting PVC ceiling panels, which will prevent mould from forming from condensation. He also closed off and removed some old plumbing pipes that were housed in a bulky floor-to-ceiling box, thus making the room bigger and an even size.

Throughout the project, John made some very helpful suggestions on what to buy (not just online, but also from local stores), which helped us make some considerable savings without compromising on quality.

John did all of this single-handedly while Tim was on sick leave and we were so impressed with the end result that we immediately asked him for an estimate to convert an old room with outdoor access into a modern storage room with kitchen cabinets, and to replace a crumbling old porch at the back of the house with a larger, sturdier one. Once again, John – this time with the help of Tim – didn’t disappoint. He gave a decrepit old room full of junk and spiders a new lease of life, turning it into a bright, airy room with lots of storage space, bricking up the external door and fitting new flooring and ceiling, as well as a number of sockets, and plastering and repainting the walls. The porch looks very sturdy and will provide very useful outdoor space when it rains.

Once again, John made a number of very helpful suggestions, always to our advantage and never trying to make more work – and money – for himself, for which we are very grateful.

John and Tim are very knowledgeable and highly competent, extremely hard-working, very honest and reliable, always on time, very polite and considerate of our needs (I work from home, and they always fit their noisiest tasks around my work calls and meetings), always cheerful and ready for a bit of banter, which makes their presence in the house all the more pleasurable.

We have already booked them for our next project – a kitchen renovation in the New Year – and we cannot recommend them highly enough!

He was very thorough when looking into the issues I had raised and he explained clearly and with confidence how to solve. Nothing was too much trouble for him and I only wish I had found him sooner. John is still currently doing the work, but we are really pleased with what he has done so far, so wanted to write a review now and upon completion.
Fantastic work, really nice guys, and the rate is decent - cannot recommend highly enough.

John was quick to give us a quote, gave a very confident and competent explanation of what he would be doing, gave us a reasonable price, and was able to start the work soon.

John and Tim replaced the rotten support beams under our half-landing top-step, replacing the boards on the step, and adding further structural support. They then plastered underneath the repair in the kitchen, and nicely blending in the new coving.

They replaced the tiles around the kitchen and painted (see photos).

Finally they gutted the whole bathroom, retiled walls, fitted new lights, new bath, new toilet, new radiator, and new sink, strengthening weakened joists below the floor, and increasing the structural rigidity of the flimsy fibre glass bath i had bought.

John explained the processes to me so that i could understand, and offered advice on bathroom fittings, and where best to i stall things.

VERY rare that I leave a review, but JD BUILDERS warrant my time and gratitude. I contracted JD BUILDERS after reading the positive reviews and praise. I can honestly say, now having been a customer, the previous statements are 100% accurate. John and Tim completed 3 different Jobs for me. I was given a fair price and an agreed start date. The work involved fitting new uPVC windows and Doors, removing an old roof, building a new one, relaying with slate, plastering, building an external brick wall & rendering and weather proofing my property. Both John and Tim conducted themselves in a proffesional manner, worked tidy and diligently, completing all work to a very high standard. Both kept regular hrs, attended every day on time and would always always let me when they would be here. Communication was second to none, I was informed of progress and next steps on a regular basis. End result is first class workmanship and I am a very happy customer. I can not recommend JD BUILDERS enough!
