We recently used Jon to design a new build in the Vale of Glamorgan. We chose Jon as he was really enthusiastic about the project and we liked previous examples of his work.

Jon and his team, Cosmin and Emily, were absolutely great to work with throughout. From the initial meeting, Jon brought innovative ideas that we would never have considered ourselves and also took on board all of our suggestions. We then met regularly to further develop the plans and Jon was always happy to consider and incorporate new thoughts or changes. His communication was excellent and he was readily available to discuss any issues and would reply promptly to any questions.

He worked with the local planning department through a pre-planning process before submitting a full planning application on our behalf - this was granted at the first attempt.

We are absolutely delighted with the final design and its been a great experience working with Jon and his team. We would highly recommend Jon James Studio Architecture without a moments hesitation!

We initially approached Jon as we had seen some of his previous projects, and liked the way that he is able to extend historic buildings in a contemporary way, whilst conserving the character of the original building.

Another important factor for us, was having a warm and thermally efficient home. As Jon is a Certified Passive house designer he has been able to advise us as to how best achieve our energy efficient ambitions.

We used Jon to provide outline design ideas and final detailed design of our planned extension. We found Jon to provide a good oversight of ideas and options at a pace that allowed us to consider things quickly, allowing us to consider what was possible under permitted development and what would require planning permission. Jon was easy to deal with and submitted all applications on our behalf, recommended structural engineers for engineering calcs and also final drawings that all builders have commented on as top quality for pricing. Would recommend and use Jon again for any project.

We live in a Conservation Area and have had a family relationship with an architect/colleague of my father who advised on projects for 60 years in our family home. Eventually, he retired so establishing a new relationship was daunting. It turns out it was a needless concern and the best thing we have done!
Jon James brought "fresh eyes", somewhat more up to date skills(!), confidence in dealing with officers from the local authority, and approachability that enhanced/understood our wishes. A variety of options were presented and discussed in a manor that helped us decide and focussed our thoughts. The technology allowed us to understand and "see" the different thoughts. Everything was made so comfortable and reassuring.
We now have our planning consent and will look no where else other than Jon, to help steer the project forward from this stage.
