We started on a journey with Jonathan and his colleagues that has led to us having the privilege of living in an amazing home.

Our brief, in its simplest form, was for a house that should be of its time but would be comfortable in its village setting, yet be something that surprises and delights when one steps inside. When Jonathan accepted the commission he said he would look forward to designing The Village House. When I heard him say that I knew we would be in safe hands.

The whole design process, including obtaining planning consent, was smooth. Jonathan and his team listened to us and we to them - crucial when employing support and expertise of this nature.

So, we have a house which only Jonathan would have delivered and we could not have delivered ourselves, which wows us as the light & the seasons change and as we grow accustomed to living here. We have combined local materials with modern technology and design flair to create a home which is practical, functional and stylish too.

My late father carried in his wallet quote attributed to John Ruskin :

We have much more than we thought we were buying and it is a pleasure and a privilege to live here.
