I had an excellent experience with Lapworth Architects while working on our family's forever home which is a Victorian house in Kings Heath.

Me and my wife worked closely with Mike. He was fantastic from start to finish. They expertly handled the planning permission process and worked closely with the conservation department to ensure everything was compliant with local regulations.

One particular challenge they foresaw was the need for a sensitive approach to maintaining the character of our period home while making modern updates. Mike made sure we found the right balance, addressing this with great care. He recommended correct size bricks, timber fascias, decorative mouldings all of which ensured we preserved the houses historical integrity

Another issue they handled brilliantly was sourcing a reputable builder. They guided us through that process, ensuring the builder understood the historical aspects of the house. Additionally, Lapworth managed the entire project from start to finish, which was invaluable in keeping everything on track. I highly recommend their services—they truly went above and beyond!

I cannot recommend Lapworth Architects highly enough. During the initial stages, we obtained several quotes, and although Lapworth was not the cheapest, I found them forthcoming and easy to communicate with. When planning your future home, especially a sizable project, this quality is invaluable.

Once we confirmed our engagement with them, the team promptly conducted a thorough survey. They spent extensive time with me discussing my requirements and understanding my vision, while offering their expert opinions on what would and wouldn’t work well. They combined my ideas with their expertise and created a masterpiece, which was easily visualizable through the provided 3D renders.

We then reviewed the designs together, made necessary tweaks, and prepared for submission. Throughout the entire process, they managed everything seamlessly, answering all questions that arose and making design amendments as needed. Unprofessional firm!

Michael from Lapworth undertook our work and did a very poor job. The main reason for our application being refused was cited as insufficient information. We supplied Michael with all the key documents and information yet he did not bother to read anything we provided. He failed to include basic information on the type of planning we applied for. It almost felt like he had no interest in doing the application, I wish he was honest and did not take our work.

We had real difficulties getting hold of Michael throughout our process, he is extremely tardy with responding to emails and telephone calls. We lost significant amounts of money due to using his company.

He agreed to submit the application again since he clearly knew he had messed up however, after initial agreement he ghosted us.

I’d used Michael’s firm after seeing positive reviews but oversaw a few that did state he is poor at communication, I wish we paid more attention to those reviews. Do your due diligence before using this firm, I had very poor experience!

Fabulous company, had problems with neighbours over planning permission and Michael was amazing. He went above and beyond to help ensure it went through. I have MS and other mobility issues and needed a downstairs extension. I'm grateful for everything they have done for me amd would highly recommend to anyone.
