We want to offer an extremely positive review of Architectural studio Lendel Stephens
Our goals were to fully renovate and to add a loft conversion and rear extension. Very early in the project we discovered Stephens team and we were very glad we did.
Stephen was able to guide us through our naivety of such a project with skill and competence. His interpretation of our aims was much slicker than other Architects interviewed at the time. This was followed by a very methodical, strong administrative capability that helped us navigate planning permission, tenders and execution of the build with good success.
Now that the project is concluded we reflect that hiring Lendel Stephens saved us an enormous amount of risk and money.
Most importantly we have a property with renewed lifespan and functionality – with some design flair that we would not have achieved without support. We are very proud of what we have been able to achieve with these services.
If you do have a building project you would not be disappointed involving this studio.

We used Lendel Stephens to design a complete renovation of a terraced property in Tooting, including extensions to the loft and rear. The product and customer service were excellent from start to finish. The designs were fantastic, and engagement with Stephen was very easy and professional. In addition to the initial design he helped us at several stages during our build when we ran into problems with other companies or suppliers - so much so I wish we had decided to go with the fully managed product in the end as Stephen managed to sort things out quickly once we asked him to assist. We appointed Lendel Stephens as our architect on the refurbishment and extension of our Wimbledon home.

We found the input of an architect invaluable in taking our brief and presenting creative options that elevated our vision for the space. The final result is beautifully designed, comfortable space which most importantly fits the way we live.

After interviewing several architects we were recommended to contact Stephen. We wanted an architect to work up plans for our new house so we knew where to start with our refurb. We knew we wanted a design that accentuated the history of the home, we knew we wanted an extension, and that we had a need for more storage. Stephen listened to us, took his time to visit our house, and came up with three excellent proposals. He also researched orangery companies and even called the planning officer in our area to investigate my dream of a loft conversion. His most ambitious design for our house sees us using the sunniest part of the house for our living room, something we had never thought of ourselves and are now 100% in love with. I can't thank or recommend Lendel Stephens enough!

We are just coming to the end of a complete renovation, ground floor and loft extension and garden redesign of what was a very delipidated an end of terrace 1930’s house that we had bought close to Peckham Rye park. Stephen and his team at Lendel Stephens have supported us right from the beginning through design, tendering and the project management of all of the works.
Stephen is very easy to work with, punctual and a good communicator who combines design flair with meticulous attention to detail and cost control. He is as happy helping us realise our own ideas as he is providing his own. He also has a lovely way of gently steering us clear when we come up with interesting but impractical propositions. Having never employed an architect before it was also a great relief to be provided with all the details of fees up front.
Stephen came up with a very interestingly shaped rear and side extension that has provided us with a spacious, light flooded, kitchen lounge, a utility room and a ground floor bathroom. He also found ways of greatly expanding and increasing the use we could make of our loft space incorporating a large bedroom, bathroom, extra storage space in the eaves and fold out balconies with views across Peckham Rye park to the Shard.
Given its dilapidated state the house needed new everything. Stephen guided us in upgrading the existing building to modern standards, externally insulating the solid brick exterior walls, insulating under ground floor wooden floors and switching from a gas boiler to a green energy efficient electric Air Source Heat Pump backed up by roof mounted PV solar cells.
Whilst, in the past, we had ourselves renovated our own house we realised that the complexity of our new project was a step change. So, we also employed Lendel Stephens to project manage everything from beginning to end. This has been invaluable. Keeping track of what has and has not been done, checking on the quality, clarifying and challenging builder’s invoices and redesigning and re-specifying as our ideas changed or new structural problems were unearthed has turned out to be a major undertaking. Stephen’s calm, meticulous attention to detail meant we always knew what was happening, what needed to be done and that Stephen would ensure any problems that arose would be sorted. He always goes the extra mile.
Given our experience we would thoroughly recommend Lendel Stephens to anyone.
