M6 GIRAFFE - Preston

I was travelling the M6 north bound to visit family. On this occasion I was a passenger and the drive was starting to get tiresome.

Upon the horizon I observed a sign with giraffes mounted on top. I point it out to the driver. How we laughed and made merriment at the site of giraffes on a sign.

10/10 would observe sign again.

Born in South Africa in 1945, my elder siblings used to mock me whenever I became needy and over-demanding, (which was quite often!) They would chant: 'I want to see the Giraffe', until I shut up.

On my frequent trips up and down the M6, I have been repeating this mantra to myself ever since Gerry's mysterious disappearance. Imagine my delight to spot him again this week......and now with his new friend. A most welcome return of a popular landmark.
Finally a bit of good news for the UK. Well done!

What a treat seeing the M6 Giraffe. Truly an iconic British site, second only to the Ratcliffe power station. Will be so sad to see that go but at least Gerry remains. The experience was somewhat tarnished when we were overtaken by a car full of children without seat belts on! I do not believe Gerry would stand for such lawlessness, but I understand why he cannot intervene in the affairs of mortals.

Ranks very much among the giraffe related advertisement vehicles I've seen. I feel that a drive through gift shop should be considered, and perhaps a penguin themed caravan?

You know what they say, it's not a road trip unless there is a plastic giraffe welded to the roof of a trailer at roadside.

Our journey has been totally enhanced by the second giraffe too. Highly recommend.
