We recently made the mistake of hiring Nathan Parmar for some building work. At best he could be described as a cowboy builder, at worst a scammer. We contracted Nathan to do some remedial work to our property in June, to start a week later. The work involved removing the rubber from our flat roof, fitting 2 steel beams, then re-insulating and installing a new rubber membrane. Initially the steels turned up as promised, but were then left on our driveway for weeks. Mid July they finally got moved to our back garden. We were then left again for weeks. At the start of August he sent 2 labourers to remove the rubber membrane from the roof ready for work to start the next day. Work did not start and then it heavily rained. The kitchen flooded causing damage as we had no waterproofing on the roof. He made further poor attempts to watertight the roof with tarps and duck tape but these were obviously useless. Weeks passed again with us having water leaking. Come September he did actually install the 2 steels. However he did not fully install them and building control said the work was of poor quality and could not be signed off. Over a month passed and he still did not show to waterproof the roof and complete the steel installs. He has taken thousands from us in deposit and what little work he has done needs redoing by someone more competent. He will promise the earth, say he's going to turn up every day but in the end completely let you down and leave your house in an unsafe and potentially damaged state.
