A beautiful national trust property and estate. There is a good sized car park with disabled bays near the visitor centre. There is a steep walk up to the castle, which some will find a struggle. There is a little shuttle bus that can take people up that need it.

There are steps in to the castle and some flights of stairs within the house. There are various seats around the house to sit on, but only ones without Holly leaves and other prickly things. Volunteers were very friendly and helpful.

We had some lovely refreshments in the cafe. Bara brith was nice.

There is a garden with stunning views for miles around and plenty of benches dotted around.

Lots of walking paths, plenty of opportunity to explore this beautiful estate. The castle takes you right back in time. The gardens are impressive. Nice views from every part. We found some interesting items in the shop too, including heather honey! Definitely recommend a visit.

Great National trust property. Beautiful castle in a great setting with amazing views. Lovely set out rooms. There are dungeons unfortunately they were closed the day we went.Tower with displays of cloths and armour. Love walks around the garden . parking in below the castle where you then walk up the hill. There is a cafe and shop

Absolutely loved it here! The gardens are beautiful, on a lovely day like it was when I went it's lovely to sit and soak up the sun it the gorgeous surroundings. The castle itself was a slight let down in the sense not many rooms are available for checking out, so your tour is over quite quickly. It was£36 for myself and my hubby which is on the dear side in my Opinion. The tea room was nice and the views stunning. Another thing, the luxury quarters you can check out don't open till 12pm so if youd like a full look around make sure to be there after 12 so you can see all that's available

Fascinating castle, dungeons, 14th century living. Beautiful gardens too. Nice typical NT cafe. No shop that we found. Good shuttle bus service from car park up the hill to the castle.

A lovely castle and gardens/ grounds to visit. Trimmed up for Xmas adds another dimension to the property with great decorations. It's always worth asking questions of the volunteers to learn that little bit extra about the property and people that lived there. Well worth a visit. Cafe a great place to recoup and refresh. Shuttle bus available if required from the carpark to the castle. It's also adjacent to Offa's Dyke, so if walking by a great stop off location.

Lovely grounds, most of the castle ls locked off as its occupied by the current owners. Dog friendly in grounds surrounding the castle, not in the vast gardens. Cafe is majorly over priced £2.30 for a can of pepsi, £5 for a small can of elderflower springwater!! 🤯

A surprising little gem. Also had some lovely food in the cafe. I am a member so no additional cost, but others I was with paid £16 which I would say was slightly on the step side. Though it was very interesting, it is not the largest of properties. Well worth a visit if you are a member.
