Maurice and his team are highly skilled professionals. They are a pleasure to work with and do their work to a very high standard. They are multi skilled and talented people. I think they charge fair prices too. They restored a large wooden balcony at our home. They were very careful and clever about how they undertook this challenging project. Preserving what didn't need replacing and carefully replacing what was needed. The result is perfect, just like when it was originally built. Maurice & Tom did a stellar job of making me a belt & braces shed from scratch! Maurice got me a quote put together very quickly and helped me value engineer (due to prices of materials being crazy) the design and was still able to provide me with an extremely sturdy shed, 10X better than the off the shelf shed direct flat pack paper thin sheds.

Maurice was attentive to what I required from the shed and recommended the use of breathable roofing felt to allow the moisture in the air to escape and stay out also, as I needed to manage the moisture levels for what I am storing.

We had read some positive reviews of Penfield Property Maintenance but our own experience was horrendous. Nick quoted us for some ground clearance and to put down a base for a 14' x 8' workshop. The quote included skip hire to remove soil and stone - it didn't turn up with the excuse that the licence was rejected (we've since determined this was untrue). He then stated he was going to use a grab lorry to remove the waste - this didn't turn up either, resulting in the soil and rock simply being piled up at the end of the garden. The base was the wrong size, out of level and unstable - it even had the corner missing where he had miscalculated positioning! All this happened while we were away, despite instructing Nick to delay the work, and when confronted with these issues upon our return, Nick's response was to become abusive and, incredibly, demand more money. He seemed to be attempting to do a two-man job on his own, simply to cut costs. I can honestly say I've never encountered such an unprofessional, incompetent and deceitful trade. We've waved goodbye to the down payment and will be getting someone in that actually knows what they're doing.

EDIT: Maurice Wills, the Company owner, in his response to my review seems to be denying that his company has ever done any work for us - strange then that I have his business card (photo below). Stranger still that he denies anyone by the name of Nick is employed by Penfield, when their Instagram account calls out what a 'busy boy' Nick has been (screen shot provided). I stand by my original comments and suggest that this company should be avoided at all costs!

Penfield Construction were appointed as builders and project managers of a large renovation project of an 18th century house. We could not have been more pleased with their quality of build and overall professionalism. To complicate their job for us, they had to work around an elderly gentleman and at all times they were considerate of his needs. All the trades who were engaged on the project were courteous, tidy, conscientious and did what they said they would do, when they said they would. Communication and discussion as the project progressed was thorough and there were no unpleasant surprises on cost escalation. All in all we would thoroughly recommend Maurice, his father Nick and their team and are very grateful to have secured their services.

Quite simply the best builder we have ever dealt with. Maurice came to the rescue when three other builders didn’t even return our calls. He has done a great job, overcomes any problems in a very calm manner, is very trustworthy and just a genuinely nice guy. 10/10 Darren and Kirsten.

Maurice and Brett did a fantastic job helping achieve the vision we had for some improvements in our new house. Firstly they removed a wall to make a large master bedroom, which then required blocking up a door and rehanging the remaining door. A wooden floor was also installed in both the bedroom and living room - which look fabulous. We also had a media wall built - which was slightly more tricky than anticipated! But Brett was amazing and had endless patience during the build! We discussed problems as they arose and came up with solutions. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were remarkable. They also accommodated an extra job of putting up some illuminated bathroom cabinets in both upstairs bathrooms, helping us achieve our dream house. Every day the house was left as tidy as possible, and every effort was made to minimise disruption. Even Sky, our nervous rescue Labrador, was put at ease, and had lots of fun playing with Goose in the garden! Thank you to the team - I would definitely recommend them both for quality of work and value for money.
