I travel in and out of town from my second home in Montana. I'm from a family of builders and contractors and know the ins and outs of what goes into construction.

I hired QBC to do major renovations and an addition on my Denver property that I'd like to list later as I transition to full-time in Montana to be closer to family. QBC did a great job working with me even while I was out of town. Bernie the GC knows what he is talking about and doing. He’s professional, and I felt he cared greatly about quality and the final product. Some items needed improvising and in those moments I was impressed with QBC's ability to meet my needs. Unforeseen problems were solved quickly and effectively. I would hire them again for future projects, and I recommend QBC/Bernie to anyone looking to get work done on their home or business.

I am very pleased with the updates of my home. QBC is a great company of builders and Bernie my contractor made me feel comfortable and really listened to my ideas and saw them through. I had my bathrooms and kitchen gutted & updated, new floors put in throughout my home, a bedroom addition built on the back end of the house, and my basement finished. It was a large job and had a lot going on in different areas — for the size scale of the project I thought the 5/6ish months it took them to finish was acceptable.

There were some hiccups with the subcontractors here and there but any issues were remedied with Bernie’s input and the results are to my satisfaction.

I contracted QBC for the build out of a major addition and reno on an investment property of mine in the Lakewood area of Colorado I purchased in 2012, that my family and I now call home. We are very pleased with the results.

The process of working with Bernie from the start of contract proposal to final completion of the project is very hands-on and did require me to collaborate with him often. I didn't mind since his team wanted to make sure the final product is exactly what my wife and I wanted. One of the main reasons I selected QBC from the other three bids I received was because of Bernie's engineering degree and background. He is an excellent problem solver. Since the house was on the older side there were unknown items that popped up that needed a change of plans to get to our end result. Bernie was attentive during this process and came up with ideas quickly and had a lot of patience working with the County inspectors.

QBC does not provide a formal timeline and it is stipulated on the contract which was a little nerve racking at first since we were moving from our townhome in DTC and renting a place in the interim. The estimated timeline wasn't far off and we ended up moving into our home upon substantial completion. Living in a place during construction was a bit hectic since contractors can be coming and going frequently and communication is often on short notice. This is to be expected with any project of this nature and they did their best to notify us with as much notice as possible.

I recommend QBC and would hire them again.

I would highly recommend Bernie and his team for your remodeling or building needs. He has provided contracting services to us on several projects, including a basement renovation on one house, full renovation and master suite addition on another property, and full remodel of a third house, an investment property where both bathrooms and kitchen were remodeled as well as other work. He had some great ideas for design and reworking layouts and floorplans, and that's a strength of his, and something only an experienced builder/contractor can provide. We look forward to working with Sustainable Building Systems again on future projects!
