I contacted SGM as I wanted an appraisal of structural integrity on a part of my house. The engineer discussed the issue and we arranged a time for him to come out and have a look. The engineer was a nice chap and honest as when I showed him what I wanted checking, he hadn't a clue as he'd never come across this issue before. Because of that, he couldn't tell me if the the part of the structure I wanted checking was sound or not. He said he could design a supporting steel but would check back at the office first in regards to said structure. The engineer phoned me back as promised and advised me that his colleagues couldn't offer any advice other than "it's been like that for so long, it's probably ok". I could have come up with that assumption without paying for it. He then asked if I still wished for him to go ahead and design a structural support. I agreed as he had already come out and I was being charged for what I felt was no information. He also said I "might need building regs" and should check. Shouldn't a structural engineer know this? All in all, a very bad experience with this company. The designs for the support are fine but I "probably" wouldn't have needed them if I was told that the structural integrity I was seeking an opinion of was ok. Would I recommend this company? Not a chance. 2 stars given because of the politeness and honesty of the engineer.

Stuart’s service is exceptional, came out to my barn conversion on the Thursday, and by the Monday I had a full structural report in front of me. Helpful Knowledgeable and very friendly, I can not recommend these guys enough.

I would absolutely recommend SGM for Structural Engineering plans and services.

They have helped us time and time again whilst renovating our property, providing thorough plans with great attention to detail and being on hand to answer our questions in double quick time which is essential when you're trying to solve problems with builders/architects etc.
