James and Michele at Side Studio Ltd. have been fantastic!

We wanted to do a two-storey side extension to our home and maximise the use of the space whilst providing for a garage. After a very thorough initial site survey they drew up the existing plans and some possible designs for the extension based on our brief and rough sketches. They were very accommodating to tweaks commenting “don’t forget this is your extension, so you should be happy with it. Changing things on paper now is much easier than during the building process.” Once we settled on a design they produced plans for submission for a planning application, this was initially rejected but a phone call by James from Side Studio to the planning office to argue against this was successful and we were granted planning permission with no conditions (the best-case scenario).

We asked Side Studio for advice on how to proceed with actually getting the extension done and they talked us through the possible options. We opted to have full plans drawn up detailing the materials to be used, and structural engineers’ drawings and calculations. Together these were then submitted to building control for approval. Building control took a long time and in the end James at Side Studio chased them for us. After some slight revisions to the plans they were approved.

The whole process went very smoothly and was carried out in a timely manner, both James and Michele were very quick to answer questions and address any concerns we had.

We can whole-heartedly recommend Side Studio Ltd. and would not hesitate to use them again in the future.
