I am a small local Building Company that works on refurbishing clients properties, I have worked with many structural engineers throughout my working career.
My first project working with the assistance of Technicus Consulting was October 2018.
Barry Burgess was the design engineer for this project, which was on a old property that had lots of structural cracks to the internal and external masonry.
Barry Burgess had designed a detailed schedule of works for me to work with, this allowed me to undertake the works for my client, which included installing Helibar with resin to the affected masonry areas.

All repair works was completed as scheduled, l emailed Barry Burgess at Technicus Consulting with photos of the works in stages of repair which allowed Barry Burgess to see the works where being undertaken as per his design report.

This was the start of a very good working relationship with all the staff at Technicus Consulting.

I have since worked very closely with Kevin Buttle from Technicus Consulting on numerous project, from just a small project to take down a internal wall for a client, to refurbishing a complete property which required major works to undertaking structural repairs to a commercial buildings.

Technicus Consulting has the ability to be able to offer small building companies like my self and clients a very personal and professional service from start to finish.

I also work very closely with the Building Control Team at East Suffolk LABC, as with any structural alteration to a property, they require structural calculation and a design report, so that they know that all works are being undertake correctly, this is when you mention that your have engaged Technicus Consulting to come up with a design report for the project, the Building Control Team at East Suffolk LABC have worked very closely with Tecnicus consulting and know that they will deliver a first class service.

Recently had a Full Structural Survey on my new residence due to a concern in cracking; Technicus were very helpful and diligent to my needs, they were very quick in surveying the property and issued with full report within 1 week of instruction. I used Techincus for this service as I have previously used their services and they are my go to company for any building or structural works (and will be using again in the very near future)

This has been by far the worst professional engagement I have ever been involved with.

I contacted Technicus for building control specification on my 5m x 15m domestic project, for which I was looking to use ICF (formwork).

Technicus kindly took on the job as an engineer with experience in the product I was interested to use for the walls. I did not negotiate the price.

The project is low scale and medium complexity.

Over the 10 months they have had the project they have visited site in Norwich twice. The second time was largely to recall facts from the first visit which were not written down.

In general little to no work took place on the project despite bi weekly chasing from August 2019 to December 2019. Things only started to happen when they suddenly invoiced me over the agreed amount in January 2020 (they did not notify me before incurring it or before invoicing).

On good faith I paid this invoice (10 or so days late) as progress seemed to be taking place; they delivered 3 pdf files with no calculations, no roof information at all and no reference whatsover to part of the building that was in scope, but it was at least progress.

After paying the invoice the resource working on the project referred the remaining work back to the owner of Technicus and I then continued to get nothing from them. This was well before (5 weeks at least) the COVID 19 outbreak.

Emails since the outbreak are mostly ignored unless they contain an ultimatum. Technicus have used the outbreak to refer to furloughed staff despite their own staff confirming that the remaining work for the project lied with the owner (who did not confirm either way whether he was or was not still working).

Technicus have not contacted me regarding their failure to deliver output, to offer a plan to complete the work or really at all when I have asked for a call back. Often direct questions on plans progress and deliverables are just ignored.

I am a patient, fair and understanding person to work with, hence it has taken 10 months to get to the point when I am writing this review.

I am a well experienced project and programme manager and clearly I did not set this engagement up to protect myself; however I work on trust and it is a shame that this has now proven to have been an error in my judgement.
