Richard and Lewis built our extension in Harwood. From day one they were timely, efficient, friendly and just lovely people to have around. Nothing was ever too much trouble. As always happens with big projects there were issues uncovered along the way and Richard went above and beyond to rectify these so he could continue with the build. Richard & Lewis built a large two story extension for me and undertook a full-house refurbishment including plumbing, re-wire, moving walls, plastering and external works.

Richard is approachable, easy to deal with, speaks common sense and is able to manage all aspects of the project. He brings the best trades to support the job (the people you don't find easily as they are so good they are booked up - plasterers, electrician, plumbers, joiners, decorators, tilers and more!). Richard managed all these trades and the overall job to the highest standards.

I had lots of specific requirements on layout, materials and electrical (including an advanced home automation system) that he not only understood but was enthusiastic about being involved in!

I have no hesitation in recommending Richard, our work with him is now continuing into the garden for ground works and terrace building work / retaining walls. Quite simply I wouldn't use anyone else.

Richard and his son Lewis built a single storey extension to our kitchen, which we now use as an open plan kitchen/living room. He is very friendly and approachable. He keeps you up to date with everything, and talks you through different options to make sure you are happy with your choices. He uses a really good team of tradesmen, we were so impressed with the joiner who fitted our new kitchen, plasterers, electrician and plumber. Everything was co-ordinated to happen at the right time. He even found us a painter at the the last minute, who also did an excellent job. Overall I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Richard and his team. He is dependable and trustworthy and is willing to go the extra mile in order to get the job completed to an excellent standard. We are more than happy with the extension and can’t thank him enough for the work he has done.

This is the second time Richard has done building work for me. The first time he built an extension onto the back of what was a new build house. The quality of the brick laying put the rest of the house to shame. This time Richard has done some structural work for me, taking out a load bearing wall and fitting the supporting steel. Richard and his team completed a large rear extension on our bungalow in July - Oct 2014.The work started on time and was completed within the timescale given. Richard was very professional and all work completed to a high standard by himself and all his tradesmen. Whilst the work was on-going we found Tonge Builders to be honest ,reliable and very clean. Richard advised on any changes or ideas he had to ensure we had the best outcome to our project. Richard also completed a rear patio for us in June 2015 and again this is excellent. Richard and Lewis his son are exceptional at what they do. Richard has many years of experience which shows . It's only now the extension is built and dealing with lots of other tradesman I've realized just how confident and secure I felt with Richard and Lewis building our extension . They turned up every day at 8am . We are just completing our kitchen and already other trades coming into our house have been asking how was the builder and complementing their work. Lewis what can we say other that what a grafter! He doesn't stop . We had a conservatory before they completely removed this and tidied up in two day. Everything happened when Richard told us it would. All of the people we have dealt with via Richard we would use again we now have a reliable plumber and electrician who we feel we can call for all future works . We know all too well how hard it is to find reliable tradesmen. As a women I was wary when I was looking for a builder that I may feel patronised or made to feel uncomfortable not knowing much about the building game . With Richard I never felt this at every step was explained and I always felt comfortable. I would be comfortable recommending Richard & Lewis to my all my family and friends and already have! The price was right and we are now so so glad we didn't move house.

Richard built a single storey extension across the back of the property in 2014. We now have a fantastic kitchen/dining room and large lounge which works well for us as a family. Richard, Stuart and his team worked to a high standard and always tidied up at the end of each day. We are now having a new patio and I did not hesitate in contacting Richard to do the work as I know it will be done to the highest standard as Richard takes great pride in his work.
